The Coronavirus a/k/a COVID-19 corner.

Wow, looks like the left forgot all about social distance constructs when rallying for Biden and celebrating his "victory".

I heard that the guy heading up Biden's covid response team wants to use some of the vaccine here and then share our early supply with the rest of the world instead of keeping it for our own citizens. Hardly the "America first" we got used to with Trump.

I personally think that's the right way to go, we should focus on vaccinating the weak.
Countries with non existent or poor health care (highest death rates)
Elderly, vulnerable, infants, etc.

then worry about America being first

1. Some Americans do not want this silly vaccine. 2. Some Americans want to stay home, and play dead.
Thus Pfizer needs new markets to sell their shit. The American Presidents, except Kennedy, put American Big Business first. Harris is their perfect front line parrot.

Pfizer miracle vaccine, 90% effective, to cure a sickness with 99.5% survival rate, aka the Covid-19-Con. It needs only to contain meds to soften the covid symptoms to sell, for billions. Wow, all hail the blind, deaf and dumb of West.
And no, the lockdowns and severe travel restrictions will stay in effect. Coincidentally to the vaccine disclosure, the number of peeps having the Covid-19-Con skyrocketed, and not all nations can afford this vaccine, which allegedly is twice as effective as the flu vaccines.

My quick take because I have stuff to do. Again disagree with the con thing. Since mid october things in my hospital have been going to shit because the increase of covid patients. Thankfully I asked for my vacation period (and pulled all the strings to make it happen) so it is not my problem. Still get updates from my fellow colleagues and at least in Mexico things will again are going to shit even if the government does not admit it. At least 34% of the recorded deaths in Mexico from covid are made up of medical personnel. Lethality rates are near 10% (Way higher than the USA 2.30 something last time I checked. Even then in the USA in just 1 year covid is like the 8th or 9th cause of death). Anyways, you all already know my opinions on it and what I believe is more interesting is talking about thte vaccines.

In regards to the vaccine, I agree that pfizer is a miracle vaccine /s. Sarcasm aside, all vaccines even moderna and sputnick are IMO a logistical nightmare to distribute. As I have commented in the Discord all this vaccines require sub cero C to be stored and transported which basically guarantees that only the big cities and 1st world countries will be able to receive it AND sotre/distributed it in any meaningful capacity. As Hendricks posted in the Discord the biggest hurdle of the distribution is the cold chain.

Easy to digest video posted by Hendricks:

I disagree though with the video on the fact that a compound distribution would be successful. Most of the developing and poor countries in the world (which are a heck of a lot more than 1st world countries) have a high amount of population living in rural areas, which have a harder time of storing/transporting sub zero temperature vaccines. take Mexico, Central America and south America for exmaple, were rural villages are not even connnected by cemented roads but are rather connected by rough dirth roads or up mountains. In Mexico alone were I have more experience; in one of the biggest Public Health clinics of my city the lowest the local freezer dedicated to vaccines could get would be -4 C. Sputnick needs at least -18 C to be stored, moderna -20 and Pfizier's oscillates between -68 to -80 C. How the fuck are we supposed to store that, let alone distribute it. Imagine the distribution caos if only 3 hospitals are able to soter the vaccine in one city.

My hopes are pinned on the vaccine that the Indian Institute of Sciences in India is developing, which is thermostable and afaik can be stored at temps of 100 C for 90 mins, 70 C for 16 hours and 32 C for a month.

I'm going to hazard a guess that the main reason lethality is higher in Mexico is that people with mild or asymptomatic cases are less likely to be tested. We will probably never know the actual lethality rate since testing is heavily biased towards the more serious cases. The numbers are also very misleading because your chances of dying vary wildly depending on your age and comorbidities.

Medical workers are a special case because they often get exposed to massive amounts of the virus, so they are starting with a higher viral load.

And as before, I stand behind my phrase con. We wanted to go to Jamaica. Got tested. I was positive and she was negative. I got tested again, now, surprise, surprise, I turned out to be negative. But explain that to the officials. Yes, No, try for third test? Nope, you wait for two weeks anyway, get tested again. Who knows, maybe I’ll be lucky and test negative on the first try out; and she turns out to be positive? Who fucking knows?
I have one employee who refuses to step in my office to properly work. Oh, government says, it is risky to go out, stay home, we have the technology to fuck up work remotely, now.
Have a party? No, only ten at a time. So, do the party eight times, for ten each?

In 1969, that flu pandemic was so bad in Frankfurt a.M. Germany, they had to store the dead in subway tunnels. This did not even make headline news. Life went on. I went to school, and did not even notice how dangerous it is to be out and about. We went to church, packed, no masks, and social distancing.

I respect your work, but I’m sick and tired of fucking monkeys daring me to tell me what I can and can not do. In short; I’m at a boiling point right now.

don't worry, Sniffy McGee and Massa Cracker Harris will give you all the stimulus checks you can cash.
Of course with all trade, production, commerce, transportation, and agricultural harvesting shut down, you'll have nothing to spend those greenbacks on. Hope the paper they're printed on is digestible.

just a little side note: people where I'm at are already stockpiling toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and canned goods in preparation for the lockdowns. And these assholes in this majority blue state voted for the people doing it to us. (both the dem pres nominee & re-elected the authoritarian dem gov)

I'm normally not a violent person, but sometimes I fantasize about mt. rainier going off and burying seattle/tacoma under 20 feet of volcanic mud.

Conspiracy: They changed UK bank notes over to plastic a year or two back now, to prevent people doing just that here when the lockdowns came (you know they planned it). My grocery store even has signs up telling people not to put cash in their mouths.
- Whilst I was mostly joking, the signs are real, me and the cashier girl were laughing about it the last time I was there. "Wait, people do that!? They have to be told not to? In a building literally filled with things that taste far more pleasant and haven't been in countless people's hands, hands that were probably in their pants moments before? How do these people function?"

Biden has promised to not give saudi arabia a blowie though.

Also yeah, I know for sure ssdi is not going to rise during this pandemic so, fucking over the disabled is another thing the blue can add to their tally.

Red was going to do the same honestly.

But at least blue have this vague you know presence of supporting such.

People that ask why homeless are commonly disabled mentally ill is that ssdi is 1200 bucks a month on average, it takes months to apply for after such disability has occurred unless such is, severe, which it still takes months,
just less months,
and unless you have a good medical history of such you're probably going to have to reapply, and maybe even reapply again with a lawyer
sure some states, it's viable, for a room, but as a sole source of income it's far below minimum and living wage in most cases.

Saying either side cares about the poor and the weak with that atrocity of a number is a gross understatement.

I'm lucky due to military benefits, but, for others, that's just not enough.

Did you do the antigen or the RNA test? The former is much less reliable. The WHO currently doesn't recommend the antigen tests for clinical diagnosis.

When I visited UK a couple years ago, I was quite surprised at these dumb-proof signs everywhere, like large "stop and look around" at pedestrian crossing or hot water warning at the sink in the mall toilet. Putting money into mouth is another story though, but people being dumb in general is not something that's surprising me anymore after having Internet access for over 20 years...

Those were molecular PCR tests? It took a day to get the results from the lab. Realistically, it is not a big deal. I make mistakes also. Shit happens.

Main thing is to fight this con - I had enough. No matter were I look, people who are very healthy, suffer greatly of this systemic re-engineering of the West, parading this fucking virus.
Another snap shot from Zero Hedge
Lockdowns Haven't Brought Down COVID Mortality, But They Have Killed Millions Of Jobs
https://www.zerohedg...d-millions-jobs
from the article
For many Americans, prolonged periods of time without gainful employment, income, or social interaction are not only impossible but potentially deadly. Martin Kulldorff notes that covid-19 restrictions do not consider broader public health issues and create collateral damage; among the collateral damage is a “worsening incidence of cardiovascular disease and cancer and an alarming decline in immunization.” Dr. Bhattacharya correctly notes that society will be “counting the health harms from these lockdowns for a very long time.”

That is the real issue, not a spoiled prat having to delay a holiday :)

At least he's promising not to, instead of vetoing congress (including biden) to pull out of yemen, which is some dictatorial shit that shouldn't be allowed imo.

Mr. Trump allowed support of the blockade which has caused 80% of the population to rely on humanitarian aid for basic necessities, Trump supported that, the blockade didn't really even exist while Obama was in power.

In essence there's a greater chance that biden will pullout then trump doing so, given that biden voted with congress to pullout.

Both sides give shitloads of false promises, I know that, but Trump was a guaranteed pick to get on his knees for the saudis. At least biden has shown recent effort to not do so.

Indeed testing is Mexico is only reserved for government workers. Specifically the only ones who get active testing in ALL Mexico AFAIK are the president, the senate and chamber of deputies. I imagine the governors as well. All other people are fucked. I don't have hard numbers atm but from what I have seen a hell of a lot of young people are dying as well. The age bracket specially from 40-50 there are a LOT of healthy no comorbidities people dying. That is NOT normal. And yes, 40-50 is basically at the half of your life with today's life expectancy.

Quote

Hot take #1: I am waiting a while before taking the vaccine. This shit has been fast tracked to high heavens and there have been constant reports of testing being stopped because of "unknown deseases". So even if I am a doctor I am NOT interested in being a guinea pig, so I'll probably wait 6 month or a bit less depending on how hot the situation is when I go back to work mid June January (You freaking gringos and your freaking similar names for month).

As I have said in my previous post, I agree that the lockdowns that are happening now are not useful and they should be relaxed:

Quote

Again should you be able to go to work, exercise, gather for a party and all that jazz? Yes, but do try and keep in mind the safety recommendations please. You would make your local medic's lives a hell of a lot easier, and safer as well.

The economy MUST go on. People HAVE to be able work. If not to keep the basic machine of our society running than at least to have something to feed their families. Has there been a blatant overreach by the government yes. Has there been spooky shit coming up like the "Great Reset" project? Hell yes. Should you be able to be free to go to another country on vacation? Depends on the country really.

As long as people keep their distance, use a facemask, learn to wash their hands and have a good personal and home hygiene (clean your houses people) than things should go on. At the end of the day I believe covid will become a seasonal disease post vaccination and it is going to become yet another deadly disease GPs are gonna have to contend with.

We can agree to disagree on naming it a con at the end of the day, as I believe in principle we both are in agreement that this lockdowns are not helping anyone at this point. There has to be a smarter way to deal with this, however I think it has become obvious it is not a blanket mandate like they are doing right now unless things REALLY go to shit. Let's hope they don't and this thing fucking mutates to a worse beast.

Quote

Did you do the antigen or the RNA test? The former is much less reliable. The WHO currently doesn't recommend the antigen tests for clinical diagnosis.

Antigen has afaik 50% efficacy in detecting a positive result.

At least you get benefits. Here in my country they aren't doing jack shit. There are funds to give money to NEETs but aside from that they have jsut let small business die by the wayside. :(

My country just gave its first (?) person to (repeatedly) breach lockdown a jail sentence, of two months. I didn't even know that shit could legally escalate that far, for some reason I naively thought one would just keep stacking 135 euro fines if repeatedly caught. I also heard a good one the other day: apparently, due to the pandemic, cops aren't allowed to conduct searches on people in public, so instead they have to take every civilian they feel like searching to the police station (the police in my town are bored, so searches are stupid frequent), and if said civilian appears to be with a group at wherever public place they're apprehended at, then the entire group has to go too, essentially resulting in a gathering at the police station that I'm not sure is safer than a public search.

In the middle of all that, the government keeps pushing harsher laws, now they're trying to pass one that basically bans documenting and broadcasting actions of the police by both journalists and civilians which is fucking insane, the press in particular is going mad.
