This particular sub-scandal amongst the Randy scandals seems like a nothingburger to me. Gearbox had a policy whereby employees could volunteer to do voicework for free while still getting paid for their regular jobs. It was a perk, or an honor, or whatever you want to call it...in any case, it was the way they did it. Now in this case, since Eddings was in charge of licensing, Randy asked him to make a special license so he could do the voicework for free and "get around" California union and labor laws. Obviously he got paid for the licensing work itself, since that was his regular job, but this meant that telltale didn't have to pay him at union rates for the voicework, making it easier for them to make a game that benefited Gearbox. This all seems perfectly reasonable. Also note that we don't know how much Eddings got paid for his job at Gearbox. It could have been a lot. Generally, employees get paid an amount that reflects their perceived value to the company. It would be surprising if Eddings' voicework didn't factor into this at all, even if it was just reflected in a Christmas bonus or something. Eddings has an axe to grind so naturally he's going to make it sound one-sided.

Considering that this came out from a man who sang Gamergate song and who also is quite politically correct, it makes him an awkward cringe joke and a hypocrite too. It works almost the same way with pro-animal activists who don't value a human life. I wish I saved some screencaps of people wishing the entire Japan to be nuked to death just because there are Japanese poachers (never mind that there are poachers in other countries too). I think yours "Why Randy still makes stupid twitter posts, no comment" nailed everything wrong with Randy and why people don't like him. Randy is a lolcow, at least on the Internet.

That said, there are many reasons why people (except for Chinese and Koreans) don't abuse or even eat domestic animals like cats or dogs. Dogs are not considered human's best components without a reason, for example, and crabs don't benefit humans like cats or dogs.

I live in a country, where dogs and cats get better treatment, including protective law enforcement, compared the old and vulnerable humans. I don't worship cats or dogs or even those delicious crabs. They are animals! We have fucking restaurants catering to dogs/cats. Yes, they actually get served by humans. If you have a pet, you love it, it is natural. But this does not extrapolate to everyone else needing to do same. Dogs/cats can't do programming, math, invest, teach me English etc. They are good for boys and girls needing to learn responsibility, but this it it.
