Randy's Pitchford Corner  "Previously "Randy's Bonus and...Child Porn?!""

User is offline   Toxic34

#1

Former Gearbox general counsel Wade Callender, who was removed and sued for breach of fiduciary duty and embezzlement and defrauding the company in November, is hitting back with his own countersuit, alleging that Randy Pitchford took a secret $12 million bonus in 2016...and has a USB drive full of child pornography: https://screenrant.c...chford-lawsuit/

I have no idea of what to say, and of course, as this just happened, it is impossible to know what the truth of the situation is. But if all of this is true, it raises a lot of terrifying questions, not the least why Callender, if he knew about this, didn't immediately report Randy for what he supposedly did. And if Randy is guilty of this, then it definitely makes the DNF and Aliens: Colonial Marines situations even more of a bitter pill to swallow.

Randy, since you sometimes come on to the forum, I hope you have an explanation for all of this and can prove your innocence.

This may just be part of the flame war between two opposing forces (note the reference). If it's not, it wouldn't look good for Randy and Gearbox in general.

One way or the other, these are serious allegations. Nothing to joke about.

Well, Randy has already admitted that the story about the USB stick containing company data + some added porn is true (of course he denies the child porn part) and honestly that's all I need to know about the level of professionalism going on at Gearbox. Guess the industry will think the same way so Gearbox is absolutely in deep shit now. If Borderlands 3 flops they'll go under fast.

Not 100% sure, but I thought the child-porn thing was already debunked - it was just one video of some twitch-girl playing with herself while doing magic tricks. Or something like that.

Randy denied the allegation by saying she was barely legal and that her fake orgasms and "squirting" were like magic.

I am interested to see what comes of this. These are serious allegations, and the guy making them knows damn well what kind of problems you cause for yourself if you make accusations of that caliber without something to back them up.

I guess what it comes down to is whether you think former Lt Cmdr Wade Callender of US Navy JAG is making things up out of spite, or whether there's more to it. I don't have an answer.

The CP thing doesn't make sense. So an USB drive with CP first gets in the hands of some kid which they have to bribe to get back, then everyone at Gearbox had a laugh at the "magic trick" (it's pee, Randy) at Pitchford's expense, yet it didn't raise any red flags to anyone?

barely legal is still legal

and that's what I meant by the stuff on the usb being de-bunked - it was supposedly seen by multiple people, but only the guy accusing Randy of stealing money and having Cp is claiming it's Cp.

There's not direct answer for what happened at those parties that Randy held though.
Crazy shit happens at parties and a host can't control everything that goes on, but there are some questionable things about them. Like why were there under-age girls allegedly at these parties?

Doesn't matter. Two rich douche-bags having a legal battle over money. Somebody will get paid, and that's about all that's going to happen.

Party and pRon, is mentioned with a 'information and belief' disclaimer
https://dictionary.l...px?selected=954
in short no proof to support the accusation; but it will be/is a feast for all those SJW and holier than though crowd, never to be silenced.

As for the cash, wow, seems to be the first lawyer here 'not operating under a signed contract'. Who works for years without a signed contract? A good lawyer? How can you prove a 'promise' in court? Hmmmm.

Did not find any gaping holes in Gearbox's suit.

So this video was footage of an underaged girl doing nasty stuff at an internal Gearbox party or what?

Nope, this is what Randy said:
https://kotaku.com/f...f-ta-1831679539

Quote

Several hours after the publication of this story, Ars Technica tracked down a magic podcast on which Pitchford had appeared last year. Around the same time, a Gearbox spokesperson also e-mailed the podcast to Kotaku. In an episode that went live December 22, 2018, the day after the lawsuit was filed, Pitchford told his version of the USB stick story—for the first time, he said. Pitchford described his enjoyment of “camgirl” pornography—in which a woman streams live erotic content—and explained that he had saved a porn video of a camgirl on said memory stick before it was lost.

“It’s a woman who is masturbating,” Pitchford said, “and when she has some experience that appears as if she’s having an orgasm, a huge amount of fluid comes out of her vagina.”

“This is not a sex worker—this is a fucking magician,” he added, saying he had purchased one of her videos and put it on the USB stick. “Some kid, an employee of the Medieval Times, discovered this memory stick, took it home, and accessed it because it was before we were password-protecting, and discovered secrets of my company and future games in development, and also discovered the pornography. And it was barely legal porn. This girl’s handle was ‘Only 18.’”

Well, if only he had pulled off some of this f*ing MAGIC with Duke Forever or Colonial Marines before. Not exactly the stuff legends are made of. But hey, at least we now know Gearbox is more than just Borderlands after all.

Honestly the whole statement feels to me like "okay, the lawsuit is there, now I have to crawl out of this shit before it hits the news" but we'll never know the truth since the USB stick was deleted.

Hm, well he crawls out of the shit... to do what? Jump joyfully into an even bigger pool of manure afterwards? That's what it seems to me. He could have said pretty much anything if there's no physical evidence to back up the story. This isn't exactly making it any better, rather adding another obscure and laughable chapter to the history of a company that once used to be good.

The underage porn claim is part of the background in a civil suit. It's an attempt to paint Randy in a bad light to make the fired lawyer's claims about Randy's breach of contract seem more credible and to get revenge on him by ensuring that his name is dragged through the mud. This is not a criminal case and the USB accusation is not part of what Randy is being sued for. The USB drive is long gone and there is no underage victim coming forward to make any accusation. So, people are free to speculate about whether the camgirl was or was not 18 but there is zero chance of Randy being in legal trouble for it.

EDIT: After reading the part of the suit that makes the USB claim, it's clear that they have no evidence at all and don't want to stick their necks out. They use the legal weasel words "on information and belief" -- meaning that they concede it is hearsay and have no firsthand knowledge of the porn on the USB. Then instead of simply saying that it contained underage porn, they put scare quotes around it:

Quote

On information and belief, Randy Pitchford's USB drive also contained Randy Pitchford's collection of "underage" pornography.

In plain English, this roughly translates to: "Hey, someone said that Randy had a USB drive that someone may have associated the word "underage" with."

Maybe it's all just a clever marketing campaign to justify Borderlands 3 being like this?

Kinda disappointing that the video game industry has come down to this.

A guy as sweaty as Randy definitely shouldn't be storing his pornography collection on his work USB drive and then just leaving it places. Why is he so sweaty all the time? Someone that sweaty has something to hide. Is it CP? Is it a drug addiction? Is it embezzlement? Is it just crippling insecurity and an intense desire for everyone to love him?

Who knows. But he sweats a fucking ton.

Why would anyone word it like this? He's watching something totally legal, but also suggests that he's close to being a pedophile for no reason.

I also don't understand the "barely legal" part. He is either trolling or mental.

No, it's not trolling or being mental, Randy is just a magician who wants to make his company disappear. That's some David Copperfield shit right there.

Just my perspective but it sounds more like a pedophile suggesting he's not a pedophile. Doesn't mean he is but it's definitely a really weird detail to draw out. The best way to lie about something like this is to tell 90% of the truth. Again it's not proof of anything but it's weird.
