How do you place a sprite on a circular surface?

I thought it would be kinda cool to create a halfcircle and place either of these sprites
on it so that it would look 3D,but for some reason when I raise the floor cutout and
I go to apply one of these sprites,it just ain't happening.

Unfortunately, trying to create something like that won't work with my wall mask decal trick I described in the other thread, this would probably necessitate following Chickens advice and applying it directly as the wall surface and aligning each part, which would loose the transparency to black.

Also, that sprite already has the curved perspective, so it would look kinda weird when curved again, you would need to "unwrap" it so it's a flat texture in parts and then re-wrap it around the curved surface...if that makes sense.

...or give in and just model/voxel it and use Polymost... :)

edit: oh, and there's also a semi-low tech method that can achieve usable results V
