That sounds better. Really carries the theme in the song now.

I've noticed something though. It sounds like the first note of the guitar at the very beginning is cut. Was that intentional?

not missing, I've just set the drums track on the very start with high vol like L.Jackson did in the redbook, I think it gives it a little kick :)
I will, however, upload a minor revision with 0.025 sec delay on the start so to make sure I'm right...
It's on the first post in this thread...

That does sound much better!
Wow.

This is definitely worthy of replacing my Mark cheering Grabbag eDuke32 theme.
I don't care if it's 15 MB's, this is an important track.

Is there a delay on the synth?
For some reason I keep feeling like there is, but it might be because I'm used to remixes so much.

Just for fun, I played around with it. I didn't actually touch the synth specifically though.

I don't notice the first guitar hit being cut...

no delay, like I said earlier, most mixes play down the synth, so you're just not used it I suppose...

As for you're mix, I mostly like how the drums turned out, though the bass drum is too low and it seems it came at the expense of everything else, which is something I did earlier on but folks didn't like;
If you can elaborate on what you did, even if it's a silly trick or something, I might try to do something with it, no guarantees though ;-)

Wow, I thought I posted a reply, but I guess I didn't.

It was just a silly trick.
When I downloaded the B1B1 track, I accidentally listened to it with an EQ I was using a few minutes earlier in Winamp.

I was so impressed with that EQ (called Full Bass and Treble, using Winamp EQ bands, and not ISO EQ bands) that I re-recorded the song in Goldwave.

This post isn't anywhere near as good as the post I wrote before.
: (

I don't like the delay in B1C1, IMO since the track repeats endlessly on my menu screen, it's not good to have a delay at the beginning.

this is pretty much what I suspected you've used, it's just that I didn't try the winamp EQ, but I instead tried to replicate this sound with a 4 band EQ, which obviously wasn't enough since winamp uses a 10 band EQ...
I already seen several decent 10 band EQ, so I'll try playing with those, but this might only yield the same issues that appeared with your attempt, like the balance and range; still, I'll give it a go...

which is the reason I didn't add a delay in the first place, but I've tested it thoroughly, and it appears that such a marginal delay has no audio-able effects...
still, since their are no other changes between B1B1 and B1C1, it's safe for you to use the previous version...
depending on further testing and experimentation, their might be one, two or no versions in the future... but that remains to be seen...

I finally replaced the synths to a string ensemble - Cakewalk Studio Instruments, at the ridiculous bargain price of 50$, which makes it one of the few things I bought at retail price :) .
this is a major change from earlier, just to make it easy to understand you might find this interesting:

here you can hear the strings alone with only the reverb effect applied on top of them...

enjoy,
