Installation question

#1

Hey guys. I had a hankerin' for good 'ole Duke and decided to look around where I could buy Duke3D. I found it over at Gog. Great!

I then was looking at some youtube videos and found what appeared to be a version of Duke3D with actual models instead of sprites.
I also found a high res texture addon.

Originally I installed Duke3D (Atomic Edition), ran it once, ran the high res texture pack, ran it, then got a weird graphics glitch on the menu. Once I hopped out, that's when I stumbled across this place here. I installed the EDuk32, and the game runs very good. However, I still have everything looking as sprites, including all the oldschool sounds, which sounds and looks nothing like your youtube advertisement. I figured maybe the high res pack might have screwed something up, so I did a fresh uninstall and reinstall of only Duke3D and EDuke32, but it still looks exactly the same.

In a nutshell, everything looks nice and clean, but I still see sprites as opposed to 3d models, as opposed to what I saw in the youtube advertisement.

Anyone mind helping me figure this out?

You need the following things in a folder:
-The contents of the eduke32 zip file which includes the exe and all the little files.
-duke3d.grp
There should be a folder structure like this:
/duke3d/autoload/duke3d.grp/polymer_hrp132.zip (and other zip files related to the HRP)

When you load eduke32, you should make sure that "enable autoload folder" is checked.

Also, if possible, post your eduke32.log file found in the root directory.

Autoload check fixed it.

Unfortunately I'm getting that blank texture error others are having. Guess there's nothing I can do until a patch comes out? Yes, I have an ATI card. >_< Can't rollback as it causes issues with other games.

ATI cards seem to be a real problem lately

What other games are you playing? I have a ATI card with driver 10.5 and all my games (WoW, TF2, CS:S, Crysis, CoD4) all play fine.

Eduke32 will always run better on an nvidia card. This is because one of the (graphics) developers for the project (plagman) works at nvidia. How other games work with the driver is pretty irrelevant, actually.

Well, y'all rock with answers. I'll probably spend some time trying to find some drivers that work for me across the board. I'm really excited just to see how active a Duke3D community is these days!

Thanks for your help!

For some reason, I just can't get the hi-res graphics and music, save for the DukePlus additions. The problem is, I can't see if the Autoload option is checked or not. See it for yourself : http://img828.images...s/i/duke32.jpg/

BTW, as you can see, Polymer is unchecked. I have no idea why: last time I launched the game, I did check it.

Any idea on how to resolve this?
