Needle Time (aka St Duke Hospital) by Alias Conrad Coldwood released on 30th June 2005

Not sure if this is something people would be interested in but I think it would be great to occasionally bring the spotlight to maps that have been released in the past and are excellent or a favourite of someone's.

The map comes with new art, new con files for the Nurse and Heartbeat and 1 new sound. Coldwood has also created two other maps, Insurance Overload and Back Alley

From the .txt file:
Story: You're Duke Nukem and you're running through halls and corridors to find buttons to push to... err... unlock things and stuff. So you can reach the exit.
Description: It's a simple Hospital-themed map. I tried to make it detailed even if you're mainly running to halls from stairs to lifts to halls and so on. This map is kinda large so you may lose yourself (don't worry, it's not that large anyway).

Yes this is a great map, out of Coldwood's maps it's my least favourite one but it's still great. Good classic style, some areas remind me of Blood's hospital map (the first screenshot for instance). The only thing a bit missing compared to the author's other maps is the interconnectedness of the layout, as here the approach is more "reach the top".

I played it in co-op and I remember it being fun for that.

I also made a video playthrough a while back

These maps by this guy have been on my playlist for quite a while, I gotta check these out. I have a txt file with a zillion maps I still need to play. This spotlight idea definitely appeals to me, help put stuff at the top of the list.

I rewatched the video I made and I gotta say there are a few things I don't like about the map.

At the end you gotta backtrack to the bottom floor just to backtrack again on the upper floor for the helicopter exit, all that with no respawn. Plus, after all that time you had to remember the yellow door was downstairs.
Also in that room you get a devastator that you barely get use for. Overall I think combat is a bit too limited to shotgun/chaigun, even just some pipebombs would have been nice.

Navigation is not always easy in the upper floor, with all the locked doors and corridors looking alike.

This is the kind of small issues that are absent of Insurance Overload, as it retains the interconnected non linear layout but while never being confusing or making the player feel lost. It also provides more weapons.

I've never played this one before, so thanks for sharing!

The map itself is pretty cool, I think it could have used a better ending but I still had fun playing it.
I agree with Methy about the backtracking at the end, it's a minor complaint though.

I have to mention those custom textures and sprites, they're most excellent!
They capture the theme perfectly and blend with the vanilla textures very nicely.
And as far as I can tell they're original, so kudos to the author for creating those.
