Welcome to DukeHOT where time is nearly still, but the temperature keeps rising!

Move the mouse or perform another action to bring you back to normal speed.
Move carefully, and make it HOT HOT HOT!

-Mblackwell

Extract and run:
eduke32.exe -mh dh.def -mx dh.con

Compatible across OSes, renderers, and can potentially be combined with other mods!

Special thanks to Daedolon, Fox, and Hendricks266

So this is like the thing in that game Superhot? Sounds interesting, could come in handy if there's a really crazy tough level.

I was under the impression that moving the mouse (ie looking around/aiming) in superhot DIDNT bring the game to normal speed. You're saying it does that here?

Yes. Moving the mouse ramps up the game speed to normal the more you move it, so slight/slow movements won't make much difference (so you can still fine tune your aiming if necessary).

This is done partly due to an engine limitation. It doesn't feel fun when input/motion is only happening at 5fps.

Gave it a go. It's certainly an interesting novelty. Of course the core game itself isn't well suited to the superhot style. I.e in a game where you're always moving (as you usually take damage when you're standing still), there's simply not much opportunity to take advantage of the slowdown effect. And unfortunately the mouse movement speeding up time negates any possible tactical advantage from standing still.

Having said that, it feels as though the mod is as good as it can be. I imagine it was a pretty interesting coding exercise as well.

Definitely!

Try to play a bit more tactically and it works even in D3D vanilla. With clever, slower playing you can get through even difficult encounters pretty much unscathed.

Q: Has anyone tried injecting it into other mods since it's run as a mutator?
Just curious if anyone had some fun results.
