Looking at the zipfile, "Marrow" basically just consists of maps (and music files), like in Death Wish. As long as the maps themselves don't use FS-specific features, this should work with pretty much any source port that's out there. Levels seem to load just fine in NBlood.

I'm impressed with this episode.
Strongly recommend to play.
very detailed and atmospheric mod.
Also look at the great artwork for the mod.

I've played through Marrow and I liked it, some nice encounters like forcing the player to fight Hell Hound while on small platforms with lava around, or spawning Gargoyles during Grey Gargoyle fights, thus giving a fresh spin on the type of encounters players would be tired of.
I played it with NBlood and there was no issue outside of small visual glitches with some of the ROR depending on view angle (as noted in the readme), and it's not like even the original game didn't have those.

Looks great. Just wondering, why is Fresh Supply the target port? I figured NBlood would be preferred for modding.

Reading the description, I think it's because the guy actually worked on Fresh Supply. Naturally, you'd make your mod for something you're most familiar with.

Where does it say that? I'm looking and I can't find it.

It’s because people use FS more than any other port and it’s the official version of Blood.

The dev of Marrow works for 3D Realms. I don’t think he has anything to do with FS.

>this implies World Tour is the official version of Duke

I guess this is technically true. But it doesn't mean the community has to acknowledge it.

Also, I thought FS had the worst visual glitches? Maybe that is not true anymore but I remember that being a meme for a good bit.

FS is a good way to play other than the MP. The last big patches made it a much more polished game. It’s not perfect of course. If a map is made for FS it more than likely will run on other ports just fine. Even Death Wish was reworked to run on FS because of its mass usage. Like it or not it’s the go to for Blood because the majority prefer it’s easy access and setup. And a lot of people who own it on steam or gog have either never played it to notice the little differences from the original or they just don’t care.

Duke3D 20th World Tour may be a bad example to compare with FS because WT only received one update (at least for PC, console was other story) since it was released...and still has lot of problems, while FS was patched multiple times before it stopped received updates, still better than the lazy WT port.

I may have misread it, but this bit:

Quote

One update shared in-particular caught our eye, which was the release of an unofficial, fan made espisode [sic] for Blood: Fresh Supply.
This mod which was made by one of their team members,

Come to think of it, no matter who uploaded it, it's a poor choice of words...

Have you ever owned a business?

Seriously though... Yes, it has its share of rendering bugs. Some old user maps are completely broken, and even the first level of Cryptic Passage has visual glitches in the light house.

Unpopular opinion: World Tour is better than Fresh Supply. A new episode, Ep 1-4 had dynamic lights retrofitted, Lee Jackson remastered the soundtrack and made some kick ass tunes for the new episode. Lets be real, people aren't mad at WT because it's a bad port, they're mad at it because it replaced Megaton. Okay, that and the fucking pills.

World Tour has no redeeming qualities. I've never played Fresh Supply so I have no opinion on it, but the "positives" of World Tour are actually net negatives. A "new episode" is of no value if the new episode sucks and only serves to stick out in contrast to a great base game. Didn't need any of the new music, didn't need any new lights. The new voice lines are horrible and only add more bad voice acting from Jon St. John into the pool of Duke lines out in the wild, what's even worse is when modders port the bad voice acting into their mod for whatever stupid reason. It is a bad port. Stock duke3d.grp is OBJECTIVELY the best way to play the original 4 episodes. EDuke32 all day.

Also, removing the red crosses was a perfectly acceptable and understandable edit.

Does it need new lights? No. Are they pretty? Yes. Can you disable them with a press of a single button and revert to the classic renderer? Also yes. Does this mean I find WT better than the EDuke32/Rednukem/Raze? No way.

Fresh Supply has a huge problem with the damage modifiers. Can't easily set Fatsos on fire with the fire spray, that's crazy! Also, compatibility with mods is bad, especially if they use RoR or any advanced map effect/trick.

I actually pretty much just use EDuke32 as it is the father of the EDuke32 family of ports. Also Rednukem builds haven't been updated in a couple months so not sure if they're outdated or not. The warps are not important for casual players or even anything related to the single-player campaign. They're needed for multiplayer.

So, I’ve got everything set up in Nblood and it runs great. I can’t get the cutscenes to play at all though. I’ve tried having them in the main game directory and in a folder called movies. They never play. I copied them from the OUWB disc itself. Am I missing something?

And the bugs that make it more unstable than the DOS version. And the price hike for less content compared to Megaton. And the abysmal sound quality it released with. And that the later half of AWO's levels were visibly unfinished with empty secrets. And the final boss being easier than a liztroop. And the overall less-than-bare-minimum quality of the project.

Not that Megaton was a saint but it was far more acceptable for the price it had, plus making the three major expansions available for the first time since the 90s.

I like NBlood, but can't get skybox mods working with the voxel pack is also applied. Anyone happen to have those both working in their autoload?

Wow! Nice to see this. Figured out for NotBlood I needed to name the .ini files in the autoload correctly.
