I hope there'll be a downloadable patch from 1.1 to 2.0 soon.

I’ve been playing IF 2.0 lately for the first time in a long time (with the voxel mod) and it’s amazing how polished the whole thing is, and with so many great small details. I can’t wait to buy 2 copies of the DLC expansion to support voidpoint!

Some minor issues I’be noticed while playing:
1. You’re able to grab ladders though blocking walls by pressing use on them, allowing you to move through the blocking wall.
2. You can’t lock onto enemies with the pistol if they haven’t noticed you and become active.
3. Sometimes when you use the top of ladders to grab onto them, you don’t latch on properly and you fall and take damage.

Thanks, hope you have a good time!

1) examples on this would be nice. As you might guess, this is the usual engine jank that requires mapping workarounds
2) I think this a 2.0 regression
3) Known jank.. I wonder if it is better or worse with i.e. 1.1

I almost don't dare to ask, but: Has 2.0 reached the 3DR store release in the meantime? Didn't have the guts to check so far.

If not, I might have to bother one of you guys for the update again. IIRC last time TerminX hooked me up with it.

Yes, it's on their website! I downloaded zip file fury_2.0.00 and it works. :)
Just in case: The link is mostly hidden below the previous version. ;)

The place where I noticed this was in Cultural Divide, IIRC shortly before you use the fan to throw you across the chasm.

We really need to turn this in to a feature somewhere...

A reference to this maybe?

The "use" function is the most janky part of CON hands down.

Hate to bump this when the lack of any recent Steam announcement makes it kinda obvious there's still nothing new to tell, but the anticipation is simply killing me, so...

Any news about progress on Aftershock? How are things coming along in general and may we get a new preview material in a not-too-distant future?

Lack of presence at RD2022 too.
Things are coming along as usual, actually things have been more active than they have in for some time now.

Recent tweets are the best you'll get for now: https://twitter.com/voidpnt
Few snippets that were recorded as B-roll for a potential RD trailer but it didn't materialize in the end.

There also was a build we quickly cobbled together for gamescom but it wasn't that much different than a hastily modified preview content combined with the latest codebase + few "kiosk mode" changes such as an attract screen loop.
This won't really be released, but we will re-use the new teaser screen for aftershock.

While there is a lot to do, we've finally started to do proper polish phases on some areas.
We're finally working on the more fun stuff.

Someone made a full track based on the mall music, pretty nice IMO:

I just got an email containing this:

"[...] After the release of Ion Fury’s expansion pack, Aftershock, we have received messages from some of you that you would like to purchase the game and continue Shelly’s adventure against Dr. Heskel! Since the 3D Realms store is not compatible anymore for distributing any of our titles, we have decided to offer a free Steam or GOG code to each one of you who purchased Ion Fury through our online store. This way, you can unlock the game on either Steam or GOG and purchase Ion Fury: Aftershock through these stores. In addition to the free key, we have decided to offer you a free copy of the 'Making of Ion Fury' Artbook."

Unfortunately, I had already purchased Aftershock on GOG quite a while ago. Nevertheless I appreciate the gesture, plus the artbook surely is a nice bonus. Great that 3DR store purchasers haven't been forgotten after all!

These are legitimate and done since the 3DR store doesn't sell Aftershock and didn't offer a path that didn't require players to re-buy the base game (gog/steam do not offer dlc-only).

I can only assume the site will be read-only down the line and this is the very least to say "thanks" for supporting us through a platform that many picked specifically to give us bigger cut in the end at the exchange of risks like these.
It just took way too long compared to what is ideal to offer an alternative but it's there now.. This has been a longer struggle/push as it was always supposed to be there during launch.... Anyway.. I'm just glad we have at least some options now.

I can recommend taking up the offer and at least you'll get a free artbook as a bonus if you didn't get one from the big box before, along with a spare key that we assume will be used in good faith.

I've (re)purchased the game + DLC on GOG, so I can only go for the Steam key. There however I don't own the main game so far. Might make sense during a sale (such as the current one), though.

Either way, a highly social gesture. Kudos to everyone involved in the decision, plus the Ion Fury team once more.

It's taken me a while to write this appreciative post, since I've been very busy with real life, but I gotta say that after experiencing the DLC for Ion Fury, it has skyrocketed to the top of my favorite retro shooters and now I'm playing it almost as much as Blood, my absolute favorite of all. I probably need to go in depth at some point, but for now I'll just say that's everything I could ever want from a DLC and it just makes the game so much better.

If I had to point out why their effort spoke to me so much, is because the mentality was just right when designing the game: many new retro shooters are often made in a way that whatever is "retro" about them are just aesthetics along with obtuse and gimmicky game mechanics. There's often not enough care in understanding what makes a good map, assortment of enemies and arsenal to fight them. With IF, and particularly with the DLC, it felt just right and accurate to what this kind of game should be like.

I don't know what the future holds for such talented team, if anything at all, but just know that irrespective of what IP is used, I'd love to see any other game in the same vein released in the future. That said, I'm appreciative of what we got already with IF and I'm just so happy to have that game and get the same feeling back when I play Blood or Duke. So for that, I'll remain forever grateful.
