I am glad Duke Nukem has been available since 1996, and I of course bought the Anthology in spite of owning many of the games already, including many copies of Duke Nukem 3D. I won't have a problem with GearBox as long as they continue to support/offer Duke Nukem legacy stuff. If they sit on it, they could end up someones crusade. Not wise.

Does the ReRockestrated album come with the Steam edition? I know it says so on that video, but I don't see it anywhere on the Steam store page.

It does although a lot of users have reported troubles in trying to get it to download.

I got a gut feeling that the Duke Nukem games are gonna be removed from Steam, GOG.com and the 3d Realms Store on New Years Day 2016. Not to mention the Duke Nukem 3D ports on Xbox 360, PS3 and PS Vita available. Good thing I purchased the 3D Realms Anthology immediately after I noticed the warning.

What!? Why!?

The 3D Realms Anthology is now 75% off but I noticed something strange:

https://www.youtube....h?v=ZaKxSZquNiw

In this video it says that the package is being removed by the end of the year...?

Called it.

CALLED IT.

FUCKING CALLED IT!!!

Gearbox Software is at fault I assume. They're probably to blame. It's like Interplay losing the rights to the Fallout series to Bethesda/Zenimax.

I hope this isn't true. Duke Nukem 3D is my most favorite video game of all time, and I also enjoy the other Duke Nukem games as well (Like Time to kill, and Zero hour). Seeing him go is like a nightmare for me. Duke will be missed. :)

By removed, you mean it won't be available for purchase any more right? Surely they can't take it away from people who have already paid for it?

They won't remove the games from people's libraries.

Correct, the games cannot/will not be removed from the libraries of people who already purchased them.

How is the ReRockestrated music accessed, or where is it stored, in the non-Steam version... if purchased from 3D Realms site?

Gearbox, as the new owner, will want to renegotiate contacts.

The hope is that they will want to reinvigorate the brand before announcing a new game. God only knows how that will turn out.

Hope and Gearbox are two words that don't go together.

How will this affect the Anthology on the 3DR website? The trailer mentions the Steam version will go down. I assume simply that the Duke games will be removed from the 3DR website version?

Maybe someone should actually ask on the 3D Realms forum... :)

At the very least the massive awesome collection artwork will have to be changed. But that hardly seems worth it, so they'll probably just take it down, leaving each game purchasable (minus the Duke games) on the website individually. I cannot see Gearbox reselling Duke Nukem 1, 2, or Manhattan Project. Maybe Duke3D, but not in any package that will be as nice as what has been.

Seems a shame for them to discard Megaton Edition on steam. And TX seems pretty confident the HTTK Edition will go ahead out of contractual obligations.

Where did anybody say that?

I was speaking hypothetically. Probably won't happen though.

Why would they do that? Gearbox shenanigans?

They own the Duke IP.

Devolver bought the Shadow Warrior IP outright as well. They may have been in the situation of having to remove not only the 4 Duke games but Shadow Warrior as well. In that case you are no longer dealing with the Anthology but a different product.

I doubt it. It's been a while since they bought Shadow Warrior and 3DR were still selling it. Gearbox had the Duke IP as well and 3DR could continue selling because the agreement included 3DR keeping the rights to already released games. Likely still that way with SW. The only reason 3DR lost all of Duke was because they bombed in the lawsuit.

Besides, what good would the original SW do Devolver? The game is almost 20 years old, and it's already had its big return with Classic Redux as well as the iOS app. The amount of money Devolver would make from new sales of SW 1997 would be practically null.
