any projects to emulate Total Entertainment Network?
#1 Posted 09 October 2014 - 02:57 PM
Way back in the day, there used to be an online gaming service called Total Entertainment Network (TEN) that supported numerous games, and Duke Nukem 3D was one of them. The service was shut down in October 1999 due to changes in its parent company's business model. I never had the chance to play Duke Nukem 3D on TEN as it closed before I got the game, but I heard it was quite awesome.
I found a post on another forum in which the author described his plans to create a TEN remake, but I don't think anything ever came out of it. Anyone know if there any other efforts to emulate TEN or create a similar service?

Yes, it's called EDuke32's client-server rewrite. In the meantime, you may have luck with the Megaton Editon's multiplayer.
xBRYAN2000x is a joke.

I've heard of a service called the Classic Gaming Arena. Never tried it myself though.
Also there's the DOS Multiplayer Archive. Again I have no personal experience of this.

No, Bryan. Nuisances like you are the scourge of the community. That's why you're banned.

That confirms that Bryan is no longer a scourage on the Duke 3D and Unreal communities. Hooray!

The Doom community is an idiot magnet that keeps all of the other classic FPS communities safe from fauxstalgic teenagers trying to show how cool they are because they like an old game and metalheads. Dipshits like Bryan occasionally slip in, but they usually get run our or humiliated soon after they open their mouth.

This guy just won't go away, and when he doesn't get his way and gets upset he goes crying to his mummy. (true story)
