Duke Craft

#31

I remember Minecraft. I hated it. As I was stuck with an account I played some more and griefed everything in sight -
Spoiler

This map though... Was fun for what it was and I enjoyed it. If I had to find fault I'd say the shading was a little inconsistent as the first area didnt look as well thought out as the rest of the map and the lava was a pain in the ass. Any map that uses BobSP-style items is welcome though, the new textures were implemented very very well and the signs made me laugh... I'm surprised the aliens didn't ruin Duke's house whilst he was asleep.

You wouldn't have been able to do any of that shit on the Minecraft servers I hosted due to the anti griefing plugins I used.

I just knew you'd have something to say. That's why I spent time writing that. Thanks, you just won me £10 to put in my hooker jar.

tilefromtexture works + old school art files :(

edit: read the whole thread. Megaton can run these things, but there is no workshop support for any modifications.

Careful though, I remember reading that def files aren't fully implemented in megaton; only enough to get the widescreen HUD weapons working. So it's worth looking into that, and of course a way to distribute the extra files along with the map. Hopefully since it's minecraft people would be interested enough to go though the extra effort to install it (although I can imagine it being a lot more inconvenient than simply downloading the pack and playing it with eduke32 due to how the maps are stored).

Perhaps put the map in the workshop as usual, but then include a seperate download in the description with the proper map plus all the other files, and tell the users to simply drop the entire thing into a certain folder and run it.

Just tested the map in Megaton Edition with modified def file and hires textures. It seems like it doesn't load textures for sprites. Evetything else looks fine.

Will upload a map today, including the installation instructions.

Uploaded on steam.

Seems to be working fine. Of course there's a classic problem with the non-playing music, but I don't know how to fix it.

Nice map, I really like the new palette, the layout and locations as well as the music. Never have played Minecraft. Maybe I'll make a playthrough to launch my new youtube channel. Is nice to see such a colorful mod after your previous works. Keep up the good work. :(

Thanks to Forge for a review!

By the way, people play this map on steam like crazy. Even the instructons can't stop 'em. Wow.

As the Commander keeps saying, since minecraft is like the 3rd best selling game, crossing it over with Duke would generate some interest. Plus, AFAIK it's the only map up on the workshop right now with any custom art, and it obviously makes super heavy use of custom art, which is bound to pique people's curiosity on top of that (seeing as it's one of a kind). Plus it's a solid map anyway.

Hopefully this is a good sign that custom art maps can be successful on Megaton despite the extra required installation effort. Maybe there will be more in the future.

How about an upload of Knee Deep Drek? Posted Image

Edit: I don't get notifications when a map is reported so I only saw it when I took the screenshot itself :(

Is the guy retarded, or is he on some personal vendetta to singlehandedly take down the entire Duke/Doom/everyother90sgame modding scene? It's like the guy has never played a custom WAD or anything before.

I imagine Termit is in a slight sticky position since steam is an official service with a stance against piracy and plagiarism but I imagine he's going to let it slide?

Oh no he didn't, he just did it for a different map that was based on Blood:

But none of that beats the guy that once reported MetHy's map for supposedly having 'porn' in it:

Don't ask me how the weight system works because I have no idea.

Very nice gameplay, the place and the song give a relaxing and joyful atmosphere.

The solid turquoise sky is a bit dull, btw...
It's evident this is a "quick" mod, a map rather than a mod; I'd have appreciated a longer level with different places, Nether and the "End", too, but I'm pretty sure that do this map in mapster was a pain the ass :( ... for Zs, i bet

Now i imagine other minecraft-based mods (not necessarily big projects), with more effort and features , like crafting GUI and recipes for items, some monsters, and why not, weapon replacements with pickaxes, swords and so on :(
