That twitter will gather some attention to them, so it's a good PR stunt if nothing else.

Steve, now you made it move!

The guys should really try and form their own team

I'm sure it was already an idea or thought, but really, I'm sure they could some how put money together to start a business, get some quick stuff together and get a publisher, and start making some games that look like that demo reel.

Doesn't even have to be DNF. I mean, if they can make games that look like that reel. Then they'd be a damn good developer.

We're catering BBQ tomorrow for the team at work. I'm hungry now just thinking about it. Now I have to sleep, thinking about it. Crap.
10:59 PM Apr 16th from web

I got boneless wings at Wing-Stop. Never again. They are horrible. Flesh and bones are the only way to go. Lesson learned.
9:11 PM Apr 11th from web

I beat Domino's by 4 minutes and that included gassing up the H2, which took longer than buying Resident Evil 5 ;)

Wondering if I can order Domino's online, run to buy Resident Evil 5 and get back before said pizza delivery. What the hell...roll the dice

Just had the free Grand Slam meal at Denny's. On one hand it was free! On the other hand...starting to feel it already ;) Oh well...

And the list goes on...just playing GB don't get pissed and not give us DNF. :D Twitter based food critic could be the next hot thing though.

Sadly we're too late for Scott Maclean's level shots, probably due to the demo reel leak.

Fuck dudes... I don't want it to end like this.

Not now, not when we got so close to it...

I know. Even if the whole game isn't released at least something, anything playable. 1 level. 2 level. 3 level. 4 level. Quake II engine, Unreal Engine, whatever.

Just the video alone makes peoples want for the game to grow like mad.

Also, it doesn't help that people always want most the things they can't have. It's just human nature.

The old adage "absence makes the heart grow fonder" also applies here.

I don't know why some people are finding it so hard to accept that this is in NO way a big "viral marketing" sort of hype thing. All signs point to 3D Realms being a victim of the recession. Companies struggle and shut down all the time in an economic climate like this. Even Microsoft, of all studios, had to let go 3000 employees in the last couple of weeks. 3D Realms put themselves in a terribly vulnerable position by relying on incoming cash flow from positively ancient (but amazing) games and selling off a few IPs.

And let's think about it - is fooling your fanbase into thinking the game is never coming out really a good marketing strategy? I think if anything, it would piss people off. The people who've followed Duke Nukem Forever all these years and never gave up hope are positively heartbroken over this. Everyone else's reactions are either "that sucks, oh well" or "haha, told ya so!" If they came out and announced that it was a big joke, everyone would feel betrayed. I'd even expect to see people boycotting the company for their shitty tactics.

The question now is whether or not another company somehow manages all the legal wrangling to attain the IP and finish up the game... But something tells me that George Broussard's pride would not allow it. He'd prefer to see Duke go down in flames along with 3D Realms than have someone else half-assedly release his baby into the world and take the credit. That said... Money talks.

The more I'm thinking of these "marketing hype" theories, the more I'm getting unsure. If it's true then I'm a gigantic asshole for even thinking that they're making a big joke but I just can't resist having the feeling that somehow this all is part of a big hype and that the 3DR employees are just good actors/liars, whatever you want to call it.

There would be a few things that don't add up:

- Joe has already, on different sites where he is an admin, asked for people to support his family for a while by donating through PayPal. But perhaps he will refund the money to people once the "truth" (?) gets out.

- Cellphone numbers listed on the employee's portfolios. Are they just going to tell everyone who calls/mails that it's fake? Then the secret would not be able to be kept up. In the case of mails I guess they could just choose not to answer them but what about cellphone calls? Would they just refuse to answer any unknown number for a while?

No response from George or Scott yet because they want to make us wait for as long as possible and that Duke Nukem announcement coming from Apogee next week might be related to DNF..

I know I'm making strange brain twists here but it's mostly KaiserSoze's train of thought in that new DNF footage thread that got me thinking.

It's not a marketing thing. I rather stay with that mentality and get surprised if it's a joke than to think it's a joke and be surprised that its not.

Oh but I won't be depressed if it turns out not to be a joke, so I'm safe either way ;)

While I don't think it's a joke, maybe the huge amounts of attention 3DR and DNF have gotten because of this will result in somone investing or something.

The plot thickens.

All we can do I suppose as far as DNF announcements is, "STAY TUNED!"
