Wow, funnily enough I've seen this guy's artwork floating around before. I had no idea he was on the DNF team.
I *love* the art for the cocooned chick.
And I re-iterate: what a crying fucking shame.

Don't get your hopes up. >_<
Edit, yeah I was just thinking about the Cacoon chick. If that's how they would have handled it in DNF.. wow. lol

FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!
He has a baby coming in three weeks. For those of you who aren't parents, that is as big as it comes. He has just lost his job and that means unless he gets employed soon, he could lose his house, everything. And let me tell you, the first weeks of parenthood are not the time to be worrying about getting a job, even in a great economic climate. DNF is a game. There is NO COMPARISON. I think Joe is doing a fantastic job right now - I would have lost the plot a long time ago and so would most people here in a similar situation, and I would have been considerably more vitriolic in my response to whining posts about DNF getting cancelled.
So let's stop the Joe bashing and get back to staring blankly into space wondering what will happen now.

I agree on that, but let's just cease the bashing all together. I bet EVERYONE is pissed at this moment, EVERYONE has something to say and add. That's just how it goes after a big hit like this. I wish all the best for the former 3D Realms staff, I bet that has to get some attention in your resume.
So far based on the shots we've seen, it looked like it had definate direction, but those shots where mostly from generic enviroments, not like the shots we got from the stripclub and the hoover dam. So I will forgive those, they look suberb too, but not earth shattering.

I think we all are. A lot of us grew up with Duke 3D and the loss of the company that spawned it is a major blow. The fact that we'll probably never get DNF is even harsher, especially after such a long wait. If only some real brains were in charge of 3D Realms, they'd still be in the game and we'd all be happy gamers.
#551 Posted 08 May 2009 - 08:27 AM
Maybe not everyone was happy about having that stuff on the net...

I dunno what's gonna happen to DNF, might be better to let it die if it can't be made by 3D Realms.
Duke isn't Duke if it doesn't have the 3D Realms crew behind it. If Valve got it, they'd ruin it, if EA got it - who knows, i like EA Games but i don't think they'd get it right with duke. As for other companies, i dunno, someone said monolith... yeah, monolith, the company that kills it's franchises, nope, that wouldn't work for me.
So even if it ever does appear in some form, if George isn't behind it, i'm not buying it.

Have had a joint? Probably a few.

This was actually the first place I came when I heard the news on Digg. Seems Yatta made me an account back when the site started, and it lasted all those years.

He was talking about the shots of the actual 3D models that were here:
http://chrissmith3dm...r.blogspot.com/
The whole page is completely gone now. There were shots of 3D models of a few weapons, a cop car, a taxi, a dune buggy, and Duke standing over a dead creature, similar to the old Duke 3D box cover.
Anyone save them before they went down?

Worked for me in Firefox. It's just 5 second loops of the character's mouths moving. Pretty unspectacular.
