Yay!
Although I guess I should mention I have nothing to do with this release. A little surprised that Piko didn't reach out to me given that it appears they added GOG Galaxy support? Will have to analyze the release and update my website when I get a moment.
Just to preempt any baseless rumors that may come from the above statement: I'm happy to see this on GOG, and consider my relationship with Piko Interactive to be good. Right now GOG sales would not be part of my profit splitting agreement. I may be able to renegotiate that, but probably not until I have the 1.4 update done.

I don't know. I can't explain it. I like it.

But unlike Wolf3D, it's just a game about Noah trying to shoot animals so hard to make them sleep without kill them, and it feel like a fine made TC to me(well, I won't say it's great, it's not, but it's not something shitty like AVGN said).
Also, I'm sure the target audience for both games also different.

I quite enjoyed Blake Stone: AoG shareware for secret-hunting and Wolf3D style gameplay with more variety than in Wolf3D itself. I actually quite enjoyed The Catacomb Abyss shareware for nearly the same reasons. Both games have more enemy types and location variety than Wolf3D.
But this was quite a while ago, I'm not sure I'd go back to either game for anything but a nostalgic feel. I didn't like Planet Strike BTW. It has what seems like very boring, linear level design compared to AoG which invites much more creative exploration.

The first three episodes are still kinda OK, even though you have to be prepared for most enemies being able to rip away anything between 5 and 50+ (!) HP away from you even when playing on Easy. You will be pissed off now and then still, but you will be able to push through.
However, starting with ep.4, the game makes it pretty clear to you it's no longer messing around and drops all disguises shamelessly. If you don't play continuously and dare to start a fresh game with E4M1, you will desperately long for Doom vanilla levels which have all been made with pistol starts in mind. Map design turns into an obstacle as well, with enemies being placed in spots where you usually spot them too late or suddenly they come all at once and surround you from all directions. It's a brutal hitscanner festival which at times becomes so dickishly hard that you visit the load menu more often than actual gameplay. Trial and error becomes natural and random successes force you to save immediately afterwards (so you can face the next anal rape without too harsh setbacks). Some animals spit at you twice and it's Game Over - no joke.
If Noah had been f'ed over by the animals like that back in the days, no way he would have ever made it off the ark. Mankind would have been extinct and nobody would have lived to tell the tale how God made his biggest dickmove ever by putting a man and his family on a ship to survive the flood apocalypse, just to be off'd by the creatures he was supposed to save. Which means the game would have never been made, just like this very forum thread. Kinda deep if you think about it, somewhat.
Still an interesting title, but certainly not relaxing. I can play Blake Stone without save-spamming, but if you do the same here, you won't get far, even on Easy. Noah's Ark is NOT a game for kids. It's far too frustrating for that.

But I'm sure no animals can f'ed your Noah over anymore if you really get used the game.

I guess...because skill 4 (Hard) is really HARD.

Oh yeah, and ofc Blake Stone gameplay is definitely a lot more balanced and enjoyable than S3DNA. I do just fine there with occasional saves, even on higher difficulties. Mainly to make sure I don't kill any informants for that perfect score.

God, they're so stupid, aren't they? I swear they placed those guys next to turrets specifically to screw the player over in places.

I actually mean the part of "urban legend" that not true in the AVGN episode -- EP17, first Bible Games, which he said "id sold the source code to Wisdom Tree to create the game" but actually, id licensed the engine to Wisdom Tree to make the game legally.
And I know James likes it.

That's so damn true.

I remember when I were kid, I played a lot of BS shareware episode(not a lot like RotT 1994 shareware episode), most of time I have to reload my old save because I killed informants by accident...and, damn those silly fake informants, got killed a lot by them too.
