The 3DS is actually kinda shitty by 2014 standards. And the preceding DSi was shittier to the point of being laughable (then again, it was just buffed up 2004 hardware).

Any high end smartphone trounces a 3DS in processing power.

I mean, the concept of the Nomad wasn't that bad, but it wasn't appropriate for the time. It would be like trying to make a portable PS3 nowadays.

It was $170 and released at the end of the Genesis' life. It never would have been right and that's why it's awesome.

You know... I don't own a Nomad and never did. This is rather odd because I have most systems. I have thought about it several times, but they aren't inexpensive for sure... but I do have these things (below) and I was inspired to buy that RetroGen as they cost less than half of what a Nomad costs. I use all of these fairly often. They all have rechargeable Lithium Polymer batteries that last as long as I have ever wanted to play.


These little hybrids are great to me.

Yes, this is mine, and I didn't even have to pay for it. I overclocked my buddy's PC and he paid me with this. He was talking to a friend at a Mustang meet about video games, brought up the fact that he had just bought a Saturn, and the guy mentioned he had this lying around. He only paid $20 for it.

It's complete in box...even has the warranty card!

The way he fucked it up was brilliant dude. He decided a year later he really wanted an i5. So we go to Micro Center, get all the parts, and get ready to go to town.

This idiot used the wrong sized screw when he secured the motherboard to the standoff, which was in a rather nice case (Antec Three Hundred).

Now, normally I can get those out no problem, you just get some needlenose pliers, grab the threaded part of the standoff from the back of the mobo tray, and if it's bad enough, you have another guy twist it out with a screwdriver.

Long story short when he installed it years ago he forced it in with retard strength. He had to drill it out, the drill slipped, his board was fucked and the case was useless.

$100 worth of hardware destroyed in a second. This is why whenever I build a PC, I ALWAYS install smaller screws in a standoff to see which size it needs. If it's too small, it'll come right out. If it's too big, it turns into a fucking project.

But I liked his 4.5GHz 3670k enough that I upgraded to a used 2500k less than a year later. His has a bad thermal diode though so no matter what you do it reads close to 85 degress celsius. Dialing in the smart fans is a bitch on that thing.
