ENGINE-SWITCHED AND DELAYED
3D REALMS ANNOUNCES BOMBSHELL FOREVER AND reBUILD,
Aalborg, Denmark - April 1st, 2015 - Interceptor Entertainment has committed to developing a proprietary engine for its upcoming title, Bombshell.
With over a decade's experience in engine abandonment, 3D Realms has advised Interceptor that new technology, which is to be built from the ground up by the Danish developer, will help the game compete in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
That technology is reBuild, a revolutionary in-house engine based on decades-old knowledge and experience.
"We hired an entire team of one," said Mike Nielsen, 3D Realms' CEO. "They're an intern completely dedicated to building the engine on a full-time basis. On Sundays."

As a result, Interceptor is deferring Bombshell's development and is renaming the project to Bombshell Forever to reflect the intended longevity of the engine.
The technology will support legacy platforms such as Xbox, PlayStation, NES, SEGA Saturn and select pocket calculators.
"At first we were skeptical," said Interceptor CEO Frederik Schreiber. "It took us at least three days to make this incredibly difficult decision, but the arguments put forward by the 3D Realms team really ended the debate.

"Their experience with this kind of shift is truly unmatched in the industry."
On the topic of Bombshell's delay, Nielsen said: "Sometimes, you have to take five steps back to take half a step forward. Still, I fully expect we will make our 2018 deadline. That's unless we decide to switch engines again, of course."

Just let me repeat. This has nothing to do with the Build game we're working on.

Nice to see it on youtube for everyone to see also hope we can take preorders soon

Some parts of the game footage make an impression of the animations being played too fast for some reason. For example during the part when the Scott Miller model was explained while Bombshell just stands at the beginning of the level, the tree animations feel too fast to appear natural. However when that round menu thing is shown the animations slow down to what might be their intended speed.
The animations in the intro cutscene also give this impression of being overly fast. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with video capture though (?).

I like it. Still don't know if I like the top down style, but I'll wait and see. At least it looks appealing.

It does look interesting these kind of games have to have coop for me to play them, any plans for this?
I like the detailing and the way the bombs come back when not detonated, plenty of little things like this make combat fun.
It's funny looking at the footage knowing that this is a Duke game with a new character and robo arm which I guess changes thing a bit as Duke wouldn't have had an arm like this and its upgrade system.
One of the aliens even looks just like the Assault trooper, look at 43.13 and tell me that's not an Assault Troopers head in her hand/metal thing.
Should be good when someone mods Duke into the game, and maybe Dylan Shitbottom.

Yeah, it will have couch co-op. Apart from that they haven't really talked about multiplayer yet.

How will aiming be handled on slopes? If you are on the bottom of a set of stairs, and you aim at the top and shoot, does your gun just shoot straight into the stair, or does it aim up and over the stairs? Same thing if you are on top of a hill, if you aim at the bottom does your bullet travel down and impact the dirt?

Probably the same way as doom / duke did, just autoaim.
A general thumb rule is that if the enemy is visible on the screen then up/down aiming didn't matter as it would automatically fire there even when you didn't aim.
Probably something similar in this case as that is pretty logical and doesn't look as silly due to lack of first person.
Similar to what you described.

Anita would say she's "unrealistically proportioned", "not representative of the real woman", and "boob plates are unrealistic".
Why do you even talk about Anita S? She's hardly a credible person. I don't deny feminism is important, but someone who makes stuff up, exagerates a whole lot and takes thing out of context. Just talk about bombshell from a feminist perspective, thats all you need to do.

Why did you? The post was over a month old and we don't need to dredge Anita up again.

Hate knows no rest.
Anyhow. Anyone know if Bombshell will have a Demo?

Just throwing my thoughts:
As long as Bombshell maintains the "Action Hero antics" , such as Tomb Raider/Duke. I will be pleased with the character =D
I honestly dont care much for her appearance as long as she is, in fact, an action hero (IE: no crappy "serious" plot behind her).

Photoslop, but a minor suggestion. Just having black circles for the gun barrels seems a little uninteresting. Would require some minor edit to the gun model, but, just a suggestion.

Seems like a good use for parallax mapping.

I like the sleek metallic barrels, but the bullets in the chambers might seem unpleasant to people with trypophobia.

Bombshell was going to be released summer 2015, right?
Would be nice with an announcement SOON about it.

Forgot all about this in all the other E3 news; glad this will be about before all the other games of this year. Sits right between Arkham Knight and Mad Max
