If I may ask, is this zip file going to be made publicly available ala Lameduke once it's sufficiently pruned for any material that might have copyright issues? Having a hands-on look at this stuff would be an experience to die for.

I certainly get that impression from the thread, but I find it always pays to clarify.

Yes, Mike :)

The majority of the "Gold" though is not in that Zip file.
That's in the (literally) hundreds of Backup CD's and Hard-drives from the past 25 years. :)

Fantastic! The zip might pale in comparison to what's stored on those assloads of hard-drives and backups, but it's still a pretty awesome pile of stuff!
As for the hard-drives and backup CDs, I can't even begin to imagine the kind of adventures you guys are gonna have tinkering through those.

Keep up the great work!

We've spend the weekends, the last 1.5 months digging through it, organising, and backing up :) A lot of interesting history.
It's great to uncover everything 3D Realms/Apogee has been working on - and the different states of these games - from the past 2 decades.

We can't wait to share more with you guys.
These things belong with the fans :)

HUMMINA. HUMMINA. HUMMINA. HUMMINA. HUMMINA. HUMMINA. HUMMINA. HUMMINA.

You don't even know how happy a man I am today. The anticipation will surely be my demise. This is incredible; A day I truly thought would never come.

Well, at least some of the screenshots are certainly from the vanilla SW:
*snip*

I actually meant the art on the box, not the screenshots.

Again, whoa :)
Everything is here, the pigcops, the lizmans, and some new music! Even XPLASMA.MID is different from the final version.
And we have not seen everything yet...

More to come!
The other betas are still uploading. :)

TerminX and Hendricks are currently working on getting them to run.
Great job so far! :)

We have plans in relation to releasing these things in Vanilla, and more Playable states,
as part of the re-lauch of the new 3D Realms website.

Guest appearances with 3D Realms Old-Timers, In-Depth Walkthroughs of the History and Data of these builds, etc.
Exciting times ahead :)

I couldn't be more excited!

Awesome :)
Are we finally going to be able to play the levels featured in screenshots on the back of the game box that were not in the final game ? :)

I love the feel of the city map we get to see at first. It feels a lot more post apocalyptic, feels like, Terminator, or actually, more like Duke Nukem 1 and 2. and are those sharks chasing Duke? I always thought the sharks were useless in the final game, that's kinda cool.

The flamethrower, that I remember french magazine reviewers said sucked, is probably in it, too.

The flamethrower existed as late in the game as the 0.99 beta we have, possibly farther in. It did indeed suck.

When I think before, we searched everywhere in magazines/videos, to get pictures of these betas, and now, we discover that they're still existing and are at hand...
Seriously, what can happen better this year?

ME TOO. WHY WOULD YOU EVER GET RID OF NEON?!

LITERALLY NO VIDEO GAME EFFECT LOOKS BETTER THAN NEON IN A DARK ROOM.

The flamethrower in 0.99 is nothing like what is in these versions, actually. I think what is in 0.99 is already being transitioned into a different weapon... (there are a few weapons so far nobody has seen before). The working flamethrower is kinda neat and reminds me a bit of the firebomb from ROTT.

You guys haven't seen anything yet, and frankly neither have I!

Fresch, I want to have your babies! I love interceptor now,

1. A game developer that listens to what their fans say.
2. Actually acts upon that.
3. Is f***ing AWESOME!

Even if these never end up in a decent working state, it's sure been great to see what has been posted so far.

Basically I am lost for words, but my face muscles are hurting as they aren't used to smiling these days. Looks like great work by everyone involved.

Thanks a lot :)

I hope it will give you guys a lot of the assets you've been looking for.
And thanks for keeping the community alive for all these years.

We actually just hired a fan a few days ago (Tempus from the steam ROTT community), after creating some of the most popular ROTT community maps. :)

With all of the DN3D betas you have, you should call it "Lameduke Infinite". :)

This thread is so freakin awesome... the longer people have been following 3D Realms, the greater the impact probably. SO much content... it is literally the stuff of dreams for the hardcore fans. :)

And thank you again Fred S. for sharing these things.

If you release a new Lameduke every month, It'd probably take you like 15 years to release every DN3D beta out there. :)

There are around 9 Prey builds, from the early Tom Hall days, to the late Paul Schuytema days.
Unfortunately in order to show screenshots of these builds, we would have to get Bethesda's approval first.

They own Prey, and are ultimately in control of what happens with it. We don't want to step on anyones toes.
I'll try and reach out to Bethesda about it. :)

I knew it! The Pig Cops used to fly back when hit! I always had a feeling that was the case due to some of the old screenshots!

And whatever that song is at the start is really bad ass.
