I told this to Teamonster too. Get some HRP textures loaded into your test project folders. ;)

I know its only test pics but the models don't look right with the lo res backrounds. It takes away from the WOW factor.

Nice. Now if the Doomsday team could just get their act together and implement metadata loop tags for music packs like almost all the other Doom source ports I could switch over from GZDoom...

EDIT: I can't figure out for the life of me how to get this working in Doomsday. I'm following the instructions but to no avail.

No error. It simply won't see the files. I added it as a custom folder in Data Files and it doesn't see it. I put it in the %appdata% folder and it doesn't see it. I don't know how to activate it. It's been ages since I've used Doomsday which looks far different than I remember (it's like an operating system now lol). No idea what I'm doing. Not very user friendly.

You have to copy the whole DHMP folder "com.hiriwa.dhmp.pack" into your addons folder, leaving the folder structure and folder name unchanged.

Starting with DHMP release 20181224 all included packages carry the 'hidden' tag and can be toggled from within the Doomsday addon/mod management interface, thus handpicking and placing only single packages from the DHMP into your addons folder render these packages invisible in Doomsday.

There is no addons folder. So I made one and added it to in Data Files but nothing shows up. I don't see any options for "addons" anywhere. Just Data Files. And despite adding the folder (and subfolders), it doesn't show up in the game's data file window.

EDIT: For some reason it's working now. Didn't do anything different. Oh well, good to go.

Yes, you did this completely correct. This is how it's supposed to be done, based on design decisions by Doomsday's developer.

Refer to my post over here explaining the management of addons/mods/packages. Note that meanwhile the term 'Packages' has been replaced with 'Mods' in Doomsday's UI.

Speaking about graphical mods, has anyone tried "Doom Remake 4 Doom"
https://www.moddb.co...ly-doom-lite-10

U need an older version of GZdoom(version 3.5.1) to run this
OR
U need to remove 03_dark_shader.wad in shaders.pk3 inside doom_remake_4.pk3 (open it with 7zip or SLADE) if using newer version of GZdoom and .bat launchers.

I just put the zip file directly into my 'runtime' folder and it worked for me.

I have no idea why I did it, but I was compelled to do a saveless run of Go 2 It from a pistol start.

Results were definitive.

I'm feeling good. Nice way to kick off the weekend.

I do this sort of thing. Wish I could work in the US, I think I'd even fly over there if it meant I could contribute in some way to an id game. Dammit.

I don't know if he's actually hiring (for money - requires work permits and shit) or just wanting people to contribute as fans (not paid - no visa required, just send in a scream). If you want to contribute, I'd just apply. The worst they can say is 'no'.

Latest vid of the DHMP.

Yeah, he says in the video it's a paid gig. You have to go to a studio in Austin, TX and will also receive credit. I applied anyway, YOLO. lol.

I don't want to be harsh, but while the models are good, I can't help but think the animation is atrocious. Doesn't Doomsday allow assigning more than 1 animation frame per sprite frame? (Unlike GZDoom) Everything seems to be a bit stiff, robotic, linear, no organic fluidity or sense of speed variation or force to any motion. I really hope things will be improved in these areas over time.

It had been done in DTWID and D2TWID, nothing is new here. The original man knows better what he is doing, he doesn't need phony remakes. Most of these maps are simply recycling old stuff in a slightly modified way, and they all end up being totally uncreative and often unattractive. I'm pretty sure if somebody would have submitted Tech Gone Bad into the DTWID project, it would have been rejected for not being faithful enought to classic Romero style.

The key to the success is not focusing the style of Romero, but focusing on new ideas, and fit them well with the classic Romero style. But that would need the original man himself, and Sigil will be the episode promised on that thread.

As for his design elements, the most visible thing is how he likes to limit the movement of the players, often creates catwalks with deadly pit below, that makes the gameplay harder for the player even with low enemy count. For example some cacos can easily make a terrible situation when the player has to maneuver in catwalks. Also he likes puzzles like what it was shown in E4M6 for example. Lately he added these zigzaggy things to make his maps look more aesthetically pleasing too.

Well, RC2 was released anyway. Said RC3 was supposed to hit a week after New Years. Hasn't happened yet...

As for Plutonia, I hear the FDTWiD project is on hiatus currently.

I'm waiting for "The Way NERVE Did" project, how they interpret the visuals of Meakim and Heath. IMHO those guys surpassed Romero at the art of design, loved those well crafted layouts and adventurous maps.

You have been warned by a moderator

"Freedom of speech" is a defense against government censorship, not a right to spew garbage on a privately-owned and operated website.

I've got a one month ban on Doomworld, just because I dared to say transgender is not a normal thing, although should be tolerated. I will never visit this retared place again.

EDIT: it was a permban... LOL

EDIT2: The post I was banned for:

OK now, I'm risking to get a warning or even a ban on this forum (since liberalism never allowed the truly liberal freedom of speech, unless it's fully liberal), but I have to look at the white elephant again what's going on here.

In my opinion transgender is not a normal thing. People in the history of our universe will never accept it as a truly normal human behaviour. In fact, it's totally against the way how nature works, how the human race work. Transgender spreaded heavy debate between people, but I'm sure that 95% of them(myself included) will never accept it as something to be celebrated openly. In this case, virginity should be celebrated the same way, or being obese, or whatever.

Tolerance is a different thing. In my opinion everything is allowed for people which doesn't hurt other people in their rights. Of course, freedom of speech is allowed, even illiberal/conservative views until it goes into hatred. Of course killing, hurting, discriminating or arrogantly mocking transgender people shouldn't be accepted. People chose it, let them live that way. But when the majority just think it's not a normal, natural thing, it also should be accepted. And celebrating such things in my opinion is openly provoke these people, and this should be accepted by the pro-transgender as well.

I have to put a disclaimer here: No Rest for the Living is probably my all time favourite mapset, if I have to choose one for a "desert island", it would be the one. One of it's authors is a trans as well. That won't change my opinion, I absolutely love his maps. Those, who start hating it just because of an author's private life is truly a retarded thing. But at the same time, threads like this, and the anti-antitrans narratives are just as bad in my opinion, and if you are not allowed to share your civilised opinion, it won't result more tolerance. It will result people go into the regular Doom thread on 4chan, and start shitposting about the case.

The "guy" with this avatar showed why we all hate genderliberals:

This is ridiculous. I'm not letting this "debate" continue here. Trans women are women, trans men are men, the end. If you can't agree with that then go elsewhere because you're not going to peddle your tired arguments on my website.

And Thomas is a tank engine. :D Honestly I don't know why do you care, I mean I saw from the post that a shitstorm is going on in the Doom community - again - but as long as good maps will come out of it I'm fine with that (and I really liked The Way id Did). Conchita Wurst can work on those maps for all I care as long as Conchita Wurst is a good a mapper. :D

Also: the gaming community is full of weird, crazy people so nothing to see there.

I'm curious, what exactly did Romero claim he supports?

I don't agree with picking a fight over some nonsense, but it's pretty telling that the mod didn't just tell you to fuck off for being off topic or derailing, instead he/she/it (lol) made it clear it's because you disagreed with their accepted dogma: "Trans women are women, trans men are men, the end. If you can't agree with that then go elsewhere"
