Amusing pic.. but I'm with Lotan on this one.
Hobbies serve as a catalyst but they don't carry the relationship.

And seriously Captain, stop the flamebaits.

But on the other hand, he's one on the most active users in this thread. :P

Either way, is there a law to behave manly? I behave how I want.

Behaving how you want = Pretty damn manly! :P

Besides, with you she could be completely different than she is in this stupid [emo, goth, hip-hop, duke fans] crowd.

Awesome how you listed the "duke fans" crowd thing. It's an idea to compare the emo subculture to the duke fans "subculture" but the difference is that on these Duke fora we have many different people who like different music, have a different clothing style, etc.. There is no standard image of "the Duke fan".

Emo people suck because they have no ideas of their own.

You're right. Let's read more Maddox and blindly follow his philosophy instead!

How are you supposed to spend time with each other if you have no common hobbies? My point is, if you share common hobbies, then you probably both already have good chemistry.

This is not necessarily true. It's more about personality than anything. Sure having hobbies in common can be a contributing factor but if the girl you're dating is a complete moron or a bitch it doesn't matter if they have the same hobbies.

It's all about being able to adapt yourselves to another person. If you are completely incapable of doing that then good luck on finding someone because it probably won't happen, unless you clone yourself. You'll probably never find a girl who has the exact same personality and hobbies as you (or any man).

You might say that having similar hobbies is important if you want to have fun. I'm not sure of this. We sometimes go to a movie theatre to watch a movie. Or go to a restaurant. Yet, is going to a movie theatre or eating food a hobby? If the people in question love eachother I do hope they don't care if they are taken on a date that might not be something they would usually do. As long as the activities that you do together are not considered annoying by any of the two parties, it should work out quite well.

There is. It is the guy who likes Duke, waits for a DNF to come and generaly likes games, especially FPS. Of course, the main thing ends here. With emo there are more common things, but most of the other things may vary.

Anyway, it was more of a joke about duke fans... But in the eyes of the gamers community, duke fans are no better than emos in the eyes of the music/fashion community.

Well, that is all labeling. Which is the shit itself. Because it is broken since there could be emo looking duke fans who like listening to industrial music and watching classic movies.

Hmm yes, now I get what you were trying to point out. There is, much like there is no real standard image of the Duke fan (apart from one obvious characteristic that is only related to games), no real image of the "emo kid". Is that correct?

In this case this entire thread is useless, because the question "Emo - Yes or no?" implies that there IS only one kind of emo person (and asks if it's a good thing or a bad thing to be like that person).

Good idea!

Generally, when people share common hobbies, they have similar personalities. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule, but in general most people with similar hobbies have similar tastes and personalities.

That's funny, I happen to know quite a few people who all have horseback riding as their main hobby. Yet their personalities are all very different. I guess I just live in Exceptiontown.

Emo is not very popular here but there are some jokes like for example. Albo jesteś emo albo cię niemo (it rhymes and it means: You're emo or you don't exist)

I voted for no, because emo propagues some kind of weakness and 'pussyness', while I prefer 'cult of power and strength' of some sort :)
We don't like emo's here.

If you're referring to that picture, it's not Manowar - it's Jon Mikl Thor.

No, I definitely detect a lot of sadness and anguish in his gaze.
Perhaps the true metal, the volume records and all the Harleys are just attempts at quieting the emo within.

The poll question was not the main reason for creating this thread.

"Ok, having flood various threads with this emo-thing, I decided it's better to create the whole thread for expressing my emo-libido."

Of course, everyone can express their emo feelings on any matter. Well, except DNF-themed emo feelings. We have an entire subforum for that.

Sorry, I've edited out my "Emo > Gay" comment.

But, please, do not combine emo and gay concepts into one. Besides, gay means happy...

How does it feel to feel? Cause I don't feel anything. I'm the opposite of emo.
