The company’s Great Game Guarantee policy stipulates that a refund will be granted on a game download provided it is requested within 24 hours of the player launching the game, within seven days of an unplayed game’s purchase, or within seven days of a preordered game's release date.
A refund is requested by visiting Origin’s order history, clicking the ‘request a refund’ link next to the appropriate purchase, and answering “a few quick questions”, said EA.
“We hope every game you play on Origin will meet [a] high bar, and we're happy to say that starting today, we can guarantee that we'll make things right if you decide the game you just bought didn’t live up to your expectations,” it added.
“If something doesn't work out – you aren’t riveted by the storyline, or sucked in by the action, or even just if the game doesn't play well with your video card – we’ve got your back.”
The refund mechanism is available now in 20 countries, and will be accessible everywhere by the end of September.
During SimCity’s launch troubles earlier this year, EA stated that it would not be offering refunds on games purchased through Origin.
