[RE-RELEASE] Wolfenstein Grosse 1.1

Okay, so this is a TC I was minorly involved in back in 2002. An old friend had made this for WW2GI and wanted to release it for the public, so we decided to release it as an EDuke 2.0 modification. After some tweaking with the con and map files, we finally released it on June 10th, 2002 on TotalConversions.com. However, as fate would have it, TCs.com was shut down as its host, EdgeNetwork closed down and the mod was thought lost.

I had been scouring through my backup CDs for years after that in hoping to find this and by today, I found it on a CD I had literally searched through about five times in the past few years already. I have no clue why I couldn't find it earlier, but sadly here it is in all its "glory". Wolfenstein Grosse TC v1.1. Now, although the TC has some neat features in it, it's generally very bad, so I'm not taking any responsibility for it, I only partook in porting it from WW2GI to EDuke 2.0 and fixing some of the issues the maps had.

Download it from here:
http://dukeworld.duk...rent/tc/grosse/

grosse11_eduke32.7z works straight away with EDuke32.

NOTICE: The last two maps are unbeatable as is, also remember to download grosse111.zip and extract it to the same directory as the mod itself to fix this.

I would post screenshots but the game is too sadistic for me to even survive the first level properly.

So far it seems you can't beat the Train Station map without DNCLIP, I'm not sure if that's a remnant of some WW2GI thing, if I can't find the right way to beat it or if it's just literally broken. I guess that explains why I found some 1.1 -> 1.2 patching files (none of which were changed so there's no point in releasing them) in the directory where I found the mod as well.

"You need key!" is the least of your worries in the mod. Thanks for the screens.

Yes, dying in 1-2 shots is much worse :P

Prepare to be banned in Germany :P. I dunno, maybe making the menu background a tiny bit less... direct... would be sensible? Just to prevent misunderstandings...

It's only like that in Polymost apparently.

Yikes those shots have no shading whatsoever! Otherwise it looks kinda interesting. Not interesting enough to spare my limited time on though Posted Image

Yeah, not recommended either. I just thought I'd upload it for safekeeping since it disappeared for years, though I suppose it disappeared for a reason.

You guys are forgetting that Classic mode and Polymost have different backgrounds, and this mod was built WAY before Polymost. I think I remember when it came out. I'm pretty sure I've played this before, that opening room is a bitch and seemed really familiar.

*sniff sniff* I smell Day of Defeat screen grabs. Oh yes.

This is nostalgic right here. I swear I remember seeing pictures of this from that lifetime ago known as the early 2000's. Damn.

Not that it was originally a WW2GI mod, though, so the enemies are from that game.

It's actually pretty decent, I must say. I've placed it into my collection of obscure TCs.
