Rise Of The Triad (2013)

Now I know what the family issue was about with the coder. Apparently the Lead coder's younger sister went into Cardiac arrest and needed to be rushed to the hospital.

Best of wishes to this guy. I just lost a family member a few weeks ago... so I know having a close call like that is frightening.

How would you describe ROTT? I never played it, there was a little bit on my Duke CD, and did not catch my interest

Well, I would start by not describing it as created by a group of former employees of a company that didn't yet exist at the time it was made...

But they only have 2 coders right? Given the state of everything an the circumstances they should have had/should hire more.

1.02 is out. But it didn't fix the RShift and RCtrl issue, so I wait for 1.1.

1.0.2 has a new console command for fps showing, and I know how my fps sucked as hell...I know my machine is really too old for this shit but...oh my god... :P

And launcher's advanced setting bugged so hard, it will reset all settings to default value when you choose it... EDIT: Maybe not, it works for some reasons...

I must report that 1.0.2. boosted performance. It's very noticeable and I can actually get ~60FPS and keep it a while, then back to fluctuations and drops.
Random numbers I'm going to pull for comparison is 17 FPS average prior to update up to 35+. I'm going to get more in depth when I have more time as well as update the comparison video and post on the Interceptor forums again.

That's a fair improvement. And with more optimizations on the way, seems like they're on the right track where that is concerned at least.

Agreed. I'm not pleased with the initial release, but if they can get traction in the updates then that will be good and I will wholeheartedly support their future endeavours.

It still doesn't run through Steam for me. When I run it through the root directory, it runs like crap even though I can manually adjust the settings through .ini files. It's the most trouble I've had with any release in years.

Yes, performance improved here. =)
Now they just need to get rid of the current state of checkpoints and allow more backtracking. Also: better jumping control for less frustating puzzles.

No performance improvements here. My settings didn't even save a couple times. Even disabling the gore got reenabled (And disabling gore doesn't disable bloodsplats, mutilated corpses that are already there, blood when shooting SKELETONS etc. and if you have to ask, I have gore disabled because it's badly implemented.)

Also, fuck you "bouncy castle"

My performance was enhanced after the patch but I am still getting random FPS drops in places...

Strange that people keep reporting the settings are resetting... I must be lucky (or must be related to something I did in one of those ini configs), but my settings are not changing without my will.
A pity ROTT had so many technical problems after release, I had more fun with it than many other FPSs out there (some that claim to be "oldschool" even), despite a few rage-inducing moments. :P

*edit: spelling.

Could it have something to do with running the game with an administrator account or not?

As I said somewhere else, what actually bothers me is the poor AI, even Wolfenstein 3D had better AI then this game (Seriously, the soldiers can't even open doors sometimes and they get stuck behind).

Unlikely, it's not checked here on the properties.

Finally got past that fucking "The Room" map. Worst FPS map in recent history, or potentially... ever.

It's worse when a ballisticraft gets stuck on a door and that door only opens when you are standing in front of it and even backing off a little causes it to immediately close even if it's just partially opened.

Like I said, E2L4 was way harder for me than E2L2. Maybe because I played on hard.

Checkpoins are way too apart in it.

I feel E2L2(on easy) still OK for me, or maybe because it's still not enough to pissed me off totally...just give up and quit then go back play again a few times.

But E2L4...due I can't stand on lowest setting so I just enabled some texture-related options to "med" and enable a few effect options......

I admit I perhaps have been waywardly critical of this game, however I would be highly interested in beta testing this game, albeit I don't have any beta testing qualifications to speak of. :P

Nah, do you guys accept for user had below of min. requirement of computer for beta tester?

I wouldn't mind beta testing. Haven't had the money to buy the game yet so I haven't played. If that fresh perspective is valuable to you, I don't mind giving you feedback.

Since I was most vocal I should say that I can't bring myself to play another minute let alone test it. Never did any beta testing so I doubt I was fit for duty anyway.
