I haven't played Flashback(although I do remember at least seeing it long time ago), but that is horrendous and I can't imagine the reaction of people who have fond memories about it.

To me it looks good in the eye candy department but the character animations and the voice acting are keeping me away from this remake.
If the voice acting would have been better and the character animations would have matched the ones found in the original game, I might have actually looked past the hand holding gameplay mechanics that were added in this remake.
I have beaten the original once but I have played the first level for many years before and after beating the game but I haven't reached more than the second level without getting distracted after I've beaten it the first time.
To put it simple, the original is great and a HD remake of it can still be made one day in the future if anybody wants to take the task.

show that a HD remake can be made and it can work extremely well with this game if there is a will for it.
The Duck Tales remake is the absolute best way to do a HD remake for a Side Scroller and I already knew this was the best way to do it even before the Duck Tales HD remake was announced.
Now that I think about it, even their concept art for this remake showed a lot of potential to actually be the actual game art direction they should have followed.
If they would have allowed their concept artists to crop the actual stuff seen in this concept art picture and turn it into sprites and use it as the actual game assets instead of going 3d with it, it would have ended being a much more original looking game and it would have managed to keep so much more of the essence that was a key part of the ambient and look of the original game.
