Btw, who is that girl in your avatar?

It's not a girl.

I was hoping to find a good image macro/emote for "totally missed the point", but I found this and I think it conveys my amusement and sadness even better.

Oh. My second guess would be a guy after a few months of hormone treatment before gender reassignment surgery or something. ;)

Or maybe this: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Mal...oss_dresser.jpg

haha Oh man.

So anyway back on topic. I think some of the text colors are a bit too light, compared to the background light grey. For example on the search page, the poster and subtitle are extremely light. Signature default color. The text next to the check boxes when posting "Enable email notification of replies, Enable Smilies ,Enable Signature". All of that is somewhat hard to read because of the color.

Well, the thread subtitle/description is supposed to be pretty light, to try and break up the layout a bit. Things looked too cramped when it was a darker shade. Have any suggestions?

I guess they really aren't that important, but for example the links in your sig are almost illegible, sitting a few feet away from my monitor like normal. When I get a chance I'll go through the CSS file and make some changes if you want to test, small things like those font colors and the god damned font problem.

Actually i've always been a bigger fan of white fonts on dark backgrounds, dunno if it's worth a shot, but what if the dark grey that surrounds the posting area here was used as background color for teh text, while making the text into a white/bright grey color... Too many bright colors just kill my eyes, and well, there's an awful lot of white'ish colors on our forums...

Could always just be an optional theme for users to choose from, but just saying, i both visually like darker forums more, as well as i find it easier myself to read forums...

Yeah, I like darker forums as well (and so does almost everyone who I've talked to). I think a darker theme will have to wait until we move the forums and IP.Board 3.0 is released, though, since the whole style will have to be remade then anyway due to incompatibility.

I would just flip the colors around, but for some reason all of the forum images are made with the background color in them instead of transparent pixels (wtf RedSplat? ;)).

Anyway, uh, Reaper_Man, is your monitor dying or something? The links are perfectly legible here on both a LCD and a 9 year old CRT... I am gonna bump the font size up a tad, though, as I didn't notice it was so small for some items (I have minimum text size forced in my browser).

I don't mind black-on-white light forums, the default theme for phpBB 3 is a good example and it's fine. Same with SMF over at AMC.

Terminx, I'm on a pretty new LCD. I just moved the browser window over to my secondary monitor which is a CRT and it looked better, so feel free to ignore my bitching about light fonts. brb, adjusting brightness settings. The font still sucks though!

Cool, i'll just wait for the next version to get here then, i hope a darker background will still fit the yellow'ish colored borders around rest of the website... ;)

Boo-urns to dark backgrounds. That's what the wrinkly guy in the Simpsons would say if he were representing my point of view in an opinion-taking event regarding the topic.

How about having a dark and light version be selectable in the user CP? I know of a forum that has a dozen or so skins to choose from, and I always thought that was pretty cool.

Just discovered 2nd skin. Nightstrike. Not bad. I even think that it look stylish.

Btw, I also like dark forums more.

Thats because you're an emo!

Yeah, Nightstrike looks ok. I think it might need a little bit of work though.

I kinda like nightstrike too, funny i missed it, i think i'll stick to that for the time being...

[edit:]
The theme doesn't seem to like smilies though, they show white borders on the corners of them...
Hm, perhaps i should stay with the original theme untill a proper and finished theme has been created
