I hope Geoarge won some poker event so 3dr could buy Duke back to develop Duke Nukem the 5th.

besides randy the last thing duke needs is broussard at the head of another duke project

I still say they reboot it like austin powers, a 90's action hero thawed out to stop the evil dr.proton and be a good angle of how duke doesn't fit into how today's world is, it would cover the angle of how DNF sort of felt out of place. and its futuristic more to, love a gamma ray gun i could melt people with.

Proton could join forces with the clycloid emperor and have their own personal petty bickering kind of like a krang/shredder relationship.

They could also do a game without re-using(or only re-using) old enemies. Just like that first 3 Duke games had different enemies from each other.

not a bad idea either, still like to see a company go back to nice sprites enhanced with today's rendering techniques, not cell shading but actually nice gritty sprites not overly concerned with resolution but more character, doom 2's monster still have a ton more character than a lot of monsters made over the past 20 years.

I believe they were going to do that with DNF, until development had finally dragged on so long that they were pretty much forced to have the familiar enemies (and weapons) return. IIRC the old DNF FAQ stated that they weren't completely happy with Duke 3D's enemy roster and were aiming to come up with better enemies for DNF.

"It's time to make up and chew bubblegum, and we're all out of gum. A future Duke is much better in this world where those that care are not fighting, but friendly."
I wasn't expecting this outcome.

Well that was a let down. Predicted that would happen though after the decided to sort things out privately.

I don't care, the next Duke will be as shitty as everything Gearbox makes... including their biggest success Borderlands.

Here's a theory: Interceptor is supposed to be making one or both of the last two "Duke Nukem Trilogy" games that 3DR has the license to produce. Maybe since no money changed hands during the resolution of the suit, 3DR received something else instead... like the rights to publish the DN Trilogy games on PC, in exchange for making Gearbox come out of this looking like the good guy? Who knows.

Certainly not a bad theory

That would be cool. It would be nice to have a 3rd person Duke game and a first person Duke game to look forward to.

No thanks to another 3rd person game. Nice theory though, just sad we have no idea whatsoever. :/
Lets hope we hear something within 6 months from interceptor, or else I would basically just wait for a gearbox game. Unfortunately ROTT doesn't work for everyone. Lets see.

I'll say yes please! Time to Kill and Zero Hour were awesome. I like this theory.

I wouldn't mind another third person Duke game if it was done well. Zero Hour and Manhattan Project aren't FPSes and they are of exceptional quality. Duke 1 and 2 aren't too shabby either, albeit somewhat generic.

The Duke Nukem Trilogy games were to be both first and third-person. I'd much rather see them on consoles or PC than handhelds. I think the teen rating should be dropped, too.

The PSP versions were going to be M rated as I understand it. Only the DS variants were intended to be Teen.

I had heard about this quite awhile back but didn't want to touch it with a 10 foot Duke pole.

As I understand it, 3DR is owed quite a bit of money.

What do you guys think of 3DR ie: Scott and George potentially getting the Duke I.P. back from Gearbox? Do you think Gearbox can do the I.P. justice at this point?

If I were George and Scott, I'd try like hell to get the I.P. back. I could actually see a resurrection of sorts of 3drealms(the development part...I know they exist as a business entity at this point)

Anyways, the craziness with the Duke Nukem Forever story continues.............with what could be a shocking ending.

Bump because whatever.

Gearbox pretty much doesn't care about any IP that's not their own. Their Borderlands games were successes, while Duke Nukem Forever and Aliens: Colonial Marines suffered majorly...

Duke Nukem is theirs.

It's not their creation, not their "baby".
