using the previously stated example: is there supposed to be a huge difference between seeing a woman's panties because her skirt's too short or seeing her in a bikini?

Yes. In the first situation there is a voyeuristic excitement added to the view. Its unexpected and she may not even know its happening. Plus on a primal level seeing a woman "present" herself to the man by bending over in front of him might add greatly to the "cheap thrill".

At the beach in a bikini she is obviously aware of what she is showing not to mention it seems more natural because of the location and plenty of others dressed similarly. The man is expecting to see something here, not like the first example of a quick and dirty look at the forbidden fruit. Damn, I sound like a pervert. :P

omg hahahaha dude I have the same digital camera. That pic must be old as hell! That POS Kodak is a 1.3MP brick that approaches the size of a Sega Game Gear. I JUST found that piece of shit in my closet last week and it had photos from high school on the CompactFlash card. That was like stepping into a fucking time machine. That fucking camera was a running gag even then.

And yes, he is quite cute.

Clothes say a lot about a person. The fashion industry has such control over how we "ought" to dress and how women are expected to dress. Personally, I'm disgusted at the "mens" sections of some stores. No way in hell am I putting on skinny jeans and wearing a beaten up polo that cost as much as months worth of food. If I wanted to wear beaten up clothes or jeans that didn't fit, I'd just put on some of my old clothes. I don't even care that much about how I look, but I'd like to be comfortable and look at least a little respectable. I like wearing my old t-shirts and broken in jeans, but when I go to school or work, I'll put on nicer pants and usually I'll wear black shoes and belt with a nice shirt. I won't deny how much better I look in business casual, but I'd prefer to be wearing my jeans and t-shirts.

A man walking into a place wearing a hoodie with pants at his knees will not get the same reaction as the same man walking into a place wearing a suit or even khakis and a button up shirt. The same goes for women, even more so. A woman walks into a place wearing a short skirt and a tube top. What do people think of her? Not the same thing they think when the same woman walks into a place wearing a knee length skirt with a suit top with jacket. We judge people internally by how they dress. You see a woman wearing a bikini your mind jumps to a different place than it would if you saw the same woman wearing a more "conservative" swimsuit. It is just how it is in our society and there is no way to avoid it.

As they say, vestis virum facit.

which response supersedes the other when viewing women (scantily clad) in society: respect for them as a person -or- desire for them in a physical nature?

why is there a dividing line between the two? can't it be both?

Yeah, isn't that exactly what I was saying, that women who look hot can be both respected and desired at the same time?

Absolute statements like this makes it impossible to intelligibly debate human nature with the politically correct brainwashed collective.Posted Image (b.t.w. "asking for it" = Rape is about Power and Control, not lust and mini skirts, so make sure you'll get the 'right' animals)

One one hand, mini skirts were invented by the fashion industry (men) to arouse on the other hand those that are shall be annihilated because they get aroused, because they still show animalism and that is not the intent of the mini skirt..Posted Image

I didn't say that those men who're aroused by miniskirts should be eradicated but rather that those men who think arousal is a reason to not respect women should be eradicated.

Of course, I need not do anything about this myself. Old people are dying, paving the way for those generations who've grown up in an environment where it's normal to discuss sex with women, to be friends and respect women who dress hot at all times, etc.

View PostRadar, on 01 March 2013 - 09:11 AM, said:

Shouldn't we still respect women no matter how many clothes they decide to put on as well?

Again, isn't this exactly what I said, that respect should be based on factors other than the amount of clothes you're wearing? Reading comprehension here has sure dropped since the last time I checked. This whole post would not exist if people could read.

But I would not respect a woman who wears the Islamic veil, even if she did that completely out of her own free will (this assumption precludes most Muslim women from consideration). This is simply because I could not respect as a person anyone who submits to an imaginary being on such a fierce level. Clothing per se wouldn't be relevant in this case, of course.

Maybe she's wearing that Muslim outfit entirely because she will get a smackdown if she doesn't and it has nothing to do with religious belief.

I have good news for you, there is no reason to wait any more, it happened already. In Canada are explicit legislations in place, forcing everyone to respect everyone. No matter what.

The legislation can be summed up with biblical doctrines like, "There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Gal. 3:28) - That follows with: ... I now realize how true it is that God does not show favouritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right. (Acts 10:34-35 NIV) - Just think : "A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found." (Psalm 37:10 NIV)

I hope this cheers you up bit. Posted Image

I disagree. The bareback and the way she looks at the camera says otherwise.

Dressing "sexy" and liking sex are different things. Some people like to leave some things to the imagination.

it unmistakeably has humorous connotations unless you're deliberately looking past the intent and going off on a tangent just to make counter-statement
knee-jerk reactions like those are what ruin threads like these in the first place
