What Are You Listening To Now?

One of my favorite examples of separating the art from the artist.

I remember seeing them for the first time at NIN show in 2014. I thought to myself: "what is this, shitty new order for the cool kids?" After a while I got hooked real hard, been at two shows, both were absolute blast.
As of recent this band has entered full New Order Worship mode. The new song is basically "Temptation".
It's good though.

Pull the bolt back
Fire a full clip
Into the ones, who own the guns
Click off the safety
Squeeze off a quick round
Into the brother, who betrayed you
Pull back the bolt
Pull the pin
Detonate the vest strapped to your waist
And take as many with you as you can
Check you out on the runway
Turn your good side to the camera
And read your manifesto to the world
Lights, action, camera
Pull back the bolt
Pull back his bolt
Fire a full clip
Into the ones, who own the guns
Click off the safety
Squeeze off a quick round
Into the brother, who betrayed you
Pull back the bolt
Pull the pin
Detonate the vest strapped to your waist
And take as many with you as you can
Check you out on the runway
Turn your good side to the camera
And read your manifesto to the world
Lights, action, camera
Pull back the bolt
Pull back his bolt

Listening to Genesis always reminds me of "American Psycho" for some reason...

Siouxsie & The Banshees - Christine
The House of Love - Christine

Celebrating 51 years of listening to heavy metal. This is one of the first albums I ever bought, 1970. I'm pretty sure I still have it in my collection.

I recently got into Pantera in a big way. Always knew of them, but never really was a fan. I always heard how great Dimebag was and also how overrated he was, but regardless of any of that, they wrote great songs. I also relate a lot to Phil's lyrics.

I remember finding about Disturbed back in AMC days through van Oostrums, they were my favourite band for a while, still dig them a lot!

My favorite nu metal group was Korn. Heaviest song I heard at the time, at 8-9 years old:
Cringe story, but me and my friend would put it on and run to the other room and hide under the covers when the guitars came in. We were already playing Duke, Blood and Carmageddon at the time.
It's funny now in hindsight all those entertainment products were kinda fucked up, but to us it was just fun. Like that Korn song I didn't realize was about domestic abuse or anything serious because I didn't even speak English back then, lol. Just liked how it sounded.

Haha yes, good times! That's their best album in my opinion, lots of tasty riffage and guitar leads. Their most recent stuff is a bit weaker unfortunately.
I'm rediscovering Mudvayne since they announced their reunion.
LD 50 is still a fantastic album. It digs a lot deeper than most nu-metal bands from that era, with complicated time signatures, unusual song structures and one hell of a bass player.

Listening to the Subnautica soundtrack, currently track 25 - Bring a Medpack.

Guilty pleasure post because personally I'm not into the fucking Dragonforce-styled shredding in the second half and this or that aspect in general, but when I first saw that band live about a decade ago with zero expectations and they opened up with this song that starts off slow then basically turns into Offspring on steroids, no one saw it coming and the whole room went ape shit, that was pretty cool. Frontman/singer has seemingly infinite energy on stage.
Also cool seeing the Unsane love on the former page, my friend used to live just next door to their space for a short while (close to the original Alleged gallery in NYC) and would bump into them all the time.

Haha nice to read!
Speaking of nostalgic bands... I have Slipknot - We Are Not Your Kind CD in my car right now. Have to say it's one of their best works actually!
Love how this one combines psychedelic, heavy and melodic as well!

Re-listening to Emperor's fantastic concert from 23rd May, where they even had guest appearances of Mortiis and Faust on some of the songs. Example here (they cover Bathory - Call from the Grave, what can be cooler than that?!):

Nina Hagen - Naturträne (live in Dortmund 1978)
Smashing Pumpkins - Cherub Rock (live at MTV 1993)
