What Are You Listening To Now?
#152 Posted 18 May 2009 - 10:15 AM
currently playing Deadly Groove - Building Block Series 031
#153 Posted 19 May 2009 - 02:11 PM
Catch Twenty-Two - Keasbey Nights
Current Song: Walking Away
Generally regarded as the best Ska album ever. I really like it, and Streetlight Manifesto's remake of it is just as good, I think.

Opeth, Bleak is a great track by them, it varies from growling to some really great regular vocal singing, it's from the album Blackwater Park
Agalloch, especially tracks like Not Unlike The Waves and Falling Snow... Although i dislike the growling in Agalloch a bit, the awesome instrumentals more than makes up for it, it's probably my favorite band ever..!

GWAR - Jack The World
Pretty diverse selection of music from GWAR (Their recent albums are, unfortunately, just straight metal though)
Municipal Waste - Headbanger Face Rip
Municipal Waste - Sadistic Magician
Return of 80's Thrash.
Can't think of much else, you've got the obvious choices like Iron Maiden, Dio, Motorhead, etc but Im sure you already know all that. I pretty much stopped listening to Metal except for a select few bands about a year and a half ago.

This, definitely. I used to be a huge Opeth fan a few years back. Some other songs you might wanna check out are Drapery Falls (one of my personal favorites) Blackwater Park, Windowpane, Harvest
I'd also recommend In Flames.

Speaking of In Flames... anyone else think they pretty much suck now? Their older stuff was good--I would almost say it's classic to me because I heard it so much in high school--but anything I've heard that they've made in the past 4 or 5 years just hasn't done it for me.

I agree. I liked their older stuff.. though not their oldest. I wasn't too much of a fan of Lunar Strain. My favorites are Whoracle, Mad made God, Jesters Dance, Black and White, cloud connected, jester race, Metaphor, Dialogue with the stars.. Heck, why am I listing songs. Entire albums: Whoracle, The Jester Race, Colony, etc. The last cd I listened to that I sort of liked was Soundtrack to your Escape. I haven't really listened to Come Clarity or A Sense of Purpose.
Whoracle and Jester Race were by far my favorite albums.
Anyway to stay on topic..sort of. I'm listening to Helloween-Mr.Torture. I can thank Jujimufu and his damn tricking vids for getting me into this. lol

The first album by them It's full of hard music, but alot of experimental stuff too, which makes the whole thing really interesting

Tell us about it!
I'll start. On my recordplayer is there an Live album from Pink Floyd,
' Delicate sound of thunder'.
I'm also a guitarplayer and drummer. I do not play in a band atm.
I'm quite musicall myself I guess...I play keyboard (piano/synths/organs), guitar, and I sing. ATM we've some jam sessions with a band It's really fun.
I might post some stuff sometime if someone is interest
