Would you make an argument like that to a Chinese dissident who believes laws that prohibit free speech should be broken?

So who decides which laws can be broken or not? Besides how can you trust a company that doesn't follow the law?

Ultimately each individual decides for himself whether breaking a law is worth it. I'm sure you don't follow all the laws of your country and would even consider such behavior moral.

As for my relationship with Valve, what counts is the contract I have signed with them, not what the EU dictates. I have not asked the EU to participate so they can just fuck off.

@ Kathy - Nah, I think Mozilla started that ability with Browser ID, just me being silly Posted Image My (new) girl wanted some games, so we sort of got some from Steam.

@ Mikko_Sandt - A contract with Valve can be overwritten or even cancelled by the local government if it does not follow the local laws and regulations. You (an individual) and Valve (Simple Internet corporation) will have to follow the laws, irrespective if you or Valve want to fuck them or not. They (government) are in a better position to fuck with you than you them. Posted Image

Yeah I know, my statement was normative.

Oh well. I am thankful that Valve can't fuck me over as they used too.

Yeah let's all hail the EU for protecting us from voluntarily entering into a contract with a provider.

Unless Steam decides to ignore said contract.

*Unless Valve simply decides to change the contract and only allows you to play any game on Steam ever again if you accept it.

Well you could apply that reservation to any party you enter into a contract with, including the store that supplies you with groceries every day. I have nothing against the fact that consumers are alert and it's a good thing people are keeping an eye on Steam. The paranoia (which is, by definition, irrational) of some people is probably beneficial to the rest of us while the paranoid benefit the least.

How would you then hold Steam accountable for violation of its contract?

I chose Steam version of Spelunky solely because of a one day challenge feature. So there you have it.

I really need to get Spelunky. Never tried it and everybody praises it so much.

I have a spare Towns Steam key if someone has an extra Spelunky key. You know, from a Humble Bundle or something...

I installed it because of another game that I already had on my account(Steam support sucks, btw). Later friend recommended me Spelunky's Daily Challenge and since that feature quite logically was service based I decided to have the game on Steam. Doesn't change my stance towards single player experiences.

I have enough to play as it is.

Cartoony games are the best (Duke3D).
