At (allegedly) 95W, there "shouldn't" be any major heat problems - even with paste & a good cooler/sink
probably depends on the board you stick 'em on.
(allegedly) the i7-8700K can be (auto/turbo clocked from 3.7Ghz to all cores - 4.3, or to one core - 4.7.
not bad for the generic settings. Get a bios & chip that actually lets you at the voltages & you can do better.
Let me know how things go after you set fire to a couple builds using them.

All AMD Ryzen CPUs are overclockable but the non-X ones are 65W while the X ones are 95W. Try overclocking an AMD Ryzen 5 1600X and see where it goes from here.

95w at stock clocks. Raise the voltage on anything after Sandy (ESPECIALLY Haswell, FUCK Haswell), and you're greeted with a hot mess. 80-90c under load, with Hyper212's are upgraded case fans. When I design custom fan profiles for these systems I have to have them ramp up to max speed the moment they touch 60c, sometimes even less.
I have gotten a Haswell to 4.5GHz. An i5 4690k.
It took two days.
...and two pages of BIOS settings taped inside the case.
I'm more surprised that unlocked i3 will probably slightly exceed my 4.5GHz i5 2500k, right out of the box. I still have no plans to upgrade.

The AMD Ryzen series is much, much better than the FX series. The 3000 series runs much cooler, more efficient and much cheaper than Intel nowadays; thanks to the 7nm Technology. If I get another computer. I'm getting one w/ a Ryzen CPU and a Radeon GPU. Sorry Polymer!
