Alright, I'll do that for the next release, though in my defense, I really hadn't assumed that clicking on a bat file would be much of a hassle :D
There are people running Linux, you know... :D
Btw., there are quite some unnecessary and confusing files hanging around:
*.log files, backtrace.dll, libiconv2.dll, libintl3.dll, Uninst.isu, and most of those from 1996.

Is there an issue with Linux and bat files? I always end up looking like a total douche when it comes to different operating systems :D I didn't delete those other files because I had absolutely no idea what they did, though ironically it looks like I deleted the GNU and other license stuff, which was arguably more important than almost anything else. I'll probably put a new upload up tomorrow morning.

Batch files are made for MS-DOS/Windows.

Linux doesn't know BAT files but has equivalents, of course. Basically a mod can be made to run without any command line arguments, once you have typed the Custom game content directory into the startup window or put it into eduke32.cfg, like DukePlus, for example.

I love the established atmosphere and it's nice to have the player character who seems fragile, as opposed to being a terminator :D

The level music was too upbeat though, IMO and the not automatic reloading is very hard to get used to, at least for me.

Can't wait for more!

I liked the music, I thought it fitted the level quite well. However I agree with anybody else about these points :
- reloading not being automatic (or at least there should be a reload key for the shotgun imo, I didn't find one)
- having to use the E key to pick-up items is trouble, although I guess it can avoid the mistakes of picking up medkits when yours is far from being empty
- auto-running should be disabled. It took me a few minutes to understand what was giong with the running, but somebody who's going to play this and is not familiar with Duke3D will probably not figure it out.
- there should be a hint that the door can be knocked down
- inventory being disabled yet you still have to use an item from it (again, players who are not familiar with Duke3D would have no idea what key to press to use the medkit, especially since all the normal Duke3D keys were left in the settings menu. You should disable that as well if you can, other mods have done it)

I didn't mind the long teleporters though; again though, there shouldn't be any need to press the use key to activate them

Just discovered a download link (I thought it's still WIP). Gonna play it now!

Edit: oh, this is just a test map. Still awesome, gonna check it out.

I played this last night, and as expected the level design was fantastic and I like the enemies/weapons/effects and also didn't mind the music.

On the negative side I'm just echoing what everyone else said:
  • Having to press the fire button again to reload was confusing and annoying. The reload animations themselves were meaty and I'd love to watch them happen by themselves.
  • That door to the armoury should indeed look a bit more damaged.
  • I don't mind having to press e to pick up items, but what I did find annoying is that it seems to pick up everything around you instead of simply picking up what you were pointing at, which makes this feature useless when a bunch of items are very close together and they might as well just be picked up automatically.

Sorry for bumping this topic but I just wanted to share my enthusiasm about this mod:
I just played through the test map. Feels really professionally made - this will definitely be one of the best TCs for Duke3D, the animations and overall design are really excellent and feel just like a game made by 3D Realms themselves.
As negatives: the posters before me have already stated the more obvious ones, like having to press the fire key again to cycle the next round (for the shotgun and the grenade launcher). Also, maybe make the teleporting animation a bit shorter, it's a bit dizzying to watch it
But otherwise, it really feels polished and well-made, so thumbs up for good work !
By the way, are there any recent updates to the mod ? I'm looking forward to playing new episodes :D

I haven't had time for much of anything here lately unfortunately, so BLiGHT has sort of fallen by the wayside. I hope I'll be able to start working on it consistently again in the next few weeks, but it's a tough call. I'm glad I managed to at least get something out the door before my personal life took over so much of my routine, and I'm really satisfied knowing it's still getting attention here and there despite never having been advertised much.

Seeing this thread on the top again made me realize I didnt play this mod. So I downloaded it and played. Really cool stuff. Mapping and art both are very fine, i loved them. The music first reminded me to some old console games and then after 20 seconds became annoying. Didn“t understand some of the stuff, as why i wasnt able to pick up the bad dudes“ shotguns but still managed to enjoy it using some cheats. I hope you eventually find the time to finish it as it is worth.
