tilefromtexture + PNG = Nothing happens (SOLVED)

Hey,

I tried to make one own tile to duke with art-files, but in #irc people told me that I could just import png-files via def-configure.
I think I've done everything correct, but my tile just doesn't appear in Mapster. I don't have any clue what could be a problem.


Here's what I have done:

1. I made a PNG test image (http://kk4.fi/u/testix.png). It is 8-bit and 64x64.
2. I added it into a GRP file
3. I created duke3d.def and added line:

tilefromtexture 5490 { file "testix.png" name "testix.png" }

4. I added duke3d.def into GRP file
5. I started Mapster with -g my.grp

And no, I have no other def-files in eduke's root.


Any advice?

For command line switches that are a single letter, you put the field directly after the letter with no space. -gmy.grp

Only for switches with two letters or more employ a space before the field.

Also, your art tile is not quite ready for inclusion. It is a 24-bit image, and it does not fall cleanly into the Duke palette. Also, I assume that you want the pink sections on the top and bottom to be transparent, but in this current format they will show up as the pink fullbright. Transparency in 8-bit tiles in the game has to be actual transparency (alpha) in the tilefromtexture.

Hmmm ok, my photo editor software lies me then. And GRP loading works fine even with space. I'll try that one as soon as possible.

OK. This is driving me nuts.

It definetly loads it, but now it just says "error". Wtf?

EDIT:

I had pretty old mapster.... Newer version and everything works fine. Thanks anyway.


EDIT 2:

Eduke doesn't support importing PNG-files from GRP-file. So this doesn't work. Need to use ZIP-format.
