How about you just shorten your posts to "I'm a dickwad" instead of making us read a novel each time?

I like how you always speak in the name of the collective group. I never get tired of your attempts at trolling me either.
Just keep pushing, you're almost there.

I don't like Davey because he downvoted my post where I professed my undying love for Kathy.

No Mr Deviance, you are legitimately a terrible person. You have nothing but animosity towards everyone and assume that Interceptor actually cares about what you have to say. It's childish at best and disgusting at worst. The best thing that can really be said is that you need to alleviate this problem, preferably with bleach or a bullet to the head. or just stop worrying about things on the internet, your call.

I'm not a troll. I just chose to express my contradictory opinions in more detail than the ones where I agree with things.
Usually when I agree with somebody on a forum, I don't go posting about unless I absolutely agree with him and think he is doing an amazing job at that particular thing.
I do it bluntly and the majority mostly never agrees with me but nonetheless I keep going in my direction and this pisses some people off very much.
Some people are used to try and mold everybody around them to act according to what they consider to be the norm up to the point where they are going to try and impose their idea of normality onto others by force.
If you call that trolling then fine but it's not what I'm after.
You can keep calling me a troll every time you disagree with me I don't mind.

It's interesting when I get lectured about caring on the internet by somebody that seems to care so much about what I post and has nothing but direct insults to post towards me, every single time.
And assuming or generalizing that I have nothing but animosity towards everyone is just a manipulatory tactic that you are attempting right now in order to gather supporters on your side.
I respect lots of people online, even on this forum but not everybody has to know that all the time. It's my business who I respect and who I have animosity towards but I assure you I have respect for smart capable people and I have nothing against nice people that aren't after scamming or bsing others for their own profit.
I know you don't troll me, you don't fuck around. You simply come about and insult me when you don't like my posts which is something I've noticed across the time I've been here.
It's ok not to like me but being a complete hypocrite and lecturing me about caring on the internet while you care so much about me is very stupid.
If you want me dead so much, how about you click the block user button and I'm gone from your life forever...
I won't drink bleach, nor will I put a bullet to my head but I would gladly watch you do it instead, provided you film yourself and somebody from your family uploads it to liveleak after you've gone to a better place where you will be free of me...

I could but I just rather post long walls of text to annoy you around here since it gives me more satisfaction to annoy you.
The truth is, most of the time I don't even know you exist until you decide to pop up and insult me with random inconsistent shit.
I bet it's all about measuring your ego with mine here and nothing else.
Whenever I say something more direct and to the point to soembody's face, I always get the mandatory tough guys that feel their ego is in peril.
I bet that taking a shot at insulting me helps you with your real life egometer.
It also probably pisses you off that my robot is dancing and yours doesn't.
Fuck off

Jealousy.

Dave said:

Yeah, we're looking to do a full on shareware episode post release. But it's all up to Fred and the guys as to when/how. The general consensus is that we'll base it off the original Hunt Begins episode, since that seems like a pretty cool idea.

Wouldn't it be easier/better to have literally first several levels as a demo so you could continue by buying a game?

I wonder what is the point in releasing a shareware post release?
Isn't the whole concept of shareware based on the idea that first you play a small chunk of free shit and then if it managed to hook you, you will want to buy the full game in order to resume the rest of the game + more features on top of the ones already present in the shareware?
The thing is, I bet they won't release a demo before the game because(to quote Dave) they sold their houses, cars, wives and their rubber ducks and now they can't afford to have anybody see this game for free and risk losing customers if they decide it's not the game they were looking for.
If that's the idea and it should be since this is the general idea these days among publishers and dev studios, then they should not forget that if anybody really wants a demo and doesn't get it, they can always torrent the whole game and try it and maybe decide after they beat it, that they don't have the cash to support the devs right now but maybe later unless they forget about it...
I don't really want Dave to sleep on a bench so we have to accept a no demo. I'm fine with that.

Because right now we have a concept of pre-ordering. Pre-order shit so you could get it 10% off with other shit you wouldn't buy other way.

Pre-order is not a mechanism that allows you to experience the game without paying for it first.
Pre-oders are a great way of buying on hype alone which is something I would never do.
Remember how many people pre-ordered DNF and the majority felt cheated when they saw what the game actually was.
At least have a company that you trust that has released previous quality games before you decide to pre-order a new game from them which you trust will be good because it's made by the same people that had already proven themselves.
In the case of Interceptor software, their first game will be this one and based on this one they will either gather a good reputation or all end up sleeping in various phone booths if we are to believe what Dave said about the selling of houses and assets just to fund this game.

Personally, I think it would have been awesome for us to have a demo out pre-release or better yet a closed beta would have been amazing so we could have gotten serious community feedback on features - but again it's one of those things that we just never had the time/money to do.

A NEW shareware episode post-release gives people who didn't buy into the hype pre-release something to try for free that will hopefully entice them to buy the full product AND it gives the early adopters who pre-ordered the game or bought it on day one new content for FREE. I think that's a good deal on both sides.

I'm also going to push for a free weekend on Steam in the first few weeks of release. I want us to have the best chance of a big multiplayer community from the get go. Fingers crossed and all that.

Also - money.

Remember how many people pre-ordered DNF and got fucked up the ass really bad when they saw what the game actually was.

I would have pre-ordered it anyway. And wasn't demo released pre-release? Or was it only for those who pre-ordered? Pre-ordering the game so you could get a demo... Now that is fucked up.

I will buy the game just to make sure you won't get to sleep with your mother.
So if you end up sleeping on your mother's couch, you should know it's not because I didn't buy the game.

Yes you are right it is fucked up and it's exactly what happened if I recall correctly.
You had to preorder the game and receive a key which you would enter on a shitty site that spat out a steam key that activated the demo.

I fixed it now that you quoted me, I might as well keep it.
I was just trying to be less hard on the guy since I did kind of trashed him too much today, though I take nothing of what I said back.
Maybe in the end he will sell the game and not lose his house but allow me to have my doubts.

Incentive to pre-order is not the same thing as having a demo or shareware. It's nothing at all like it, and unfortunately Mr. Deviance is right on the money with many of his points.

I wasn't implying it was. One replaced the other. Now you have 10% off and free stuff as incentives. It would be disadvantageous to release a demo with good hype-based pre-orders.

I think we'll do fine. The game is fast, it's fun, it's crazy faithful to the original, there's a ton of content in it, it's moddable, we're putting out new content for free, we put it on Steam for the Steam heads and GOG for the old-school crowd, and it's $15.

The thing about ROTT is that since we have such a small budget, we don't need it to sell a gajillion copies for it to be successful for us. We're not making a game for millions of people or even hundreds of thousands of people. We're literally making a game for 10's of thousands of people. And as long as they like it, we'll be ok.

I'M NOT FREAKING OUT OR ANYTHING.

I'm kinda freaking out.

Saving is probably not all that possible without ripping the engine itself apart real deep, which is something only brave souls at Epic could do. Saving stuff like instances of physics, the middleware data and the like... would probably be a huge undertaking

I can't even name a single UnrealEngine3 game that did have manual saving.

And let's not forget that UDK itself started on the Multiplayer only UT3. Which of course didn't have any saves at all. So you really have to start from scratch to code that thing.
