I'm glad you like it, but to the majority of hard core Duke fans, and for the majority of the wider gaming community, DNF was a huge disappointment and a fail. Note carefully what I'm actually saying here. Was the game necessarily bad? Not really. Was it a huge disappointment? (insert huge promises and hype, and the 3 decade-spanning waiting time). Yes it was.

By all means hope, but expect any dreams to come true in the near future for the Duke franchise.

Duke Reloaded may not come out any time soon but the situation on it is distinctly different than with DNF. If and when Gearbox gets around to working on Duke5 they probably wont replicate the conditions that produced DNF so unless they purposely make a game modeled on DNF the same thing wont happen with it.... and even then I think simply not being mismanaged for ~12 years would count a lot towards making it different anyway. Different people in charge, different company. I know some of you have an irrational hatred of Gearbox but they are not 3D Realms and don't have guys like George Broussard in charge. But we'll just have to wait and see if and when they make Duke 5 and or if they ever give Interceptor the go ahead to finish up Duke Nukem 3D Reloaded.

I've come to the conclusion that Forever's failure was not directly as a result of Gearbox, but rather due to a snowball effect of years of hype and expectations. With all of the hype generated by Duke Nukem Forever, no game could conceivably have been released to simultaneously satisfy the fans, professional reviewers, and casual gamers all at once. Tetsuo is correct; Gearbox has had a solid reputation with other games such as Opposing Force and Borderlands. I'm not as excited about Duke Reloaded simply because the custom content community for Duke Nukem 3D is absolutely hopping as it is; Reloaded has to complete against DukePlus, WG Realms, Naferia's Reign, the HRP, etc. Our standards really are quite high and it goes to show that great graphics does not always a great game make.

I will say that this project has made me start playing through Rise Of The Triad again. The game has its little nuisances, but it's otherwise quite fun, and I can't wait to see what Interceptor does with this if indeed they do succeed.

Gearbox were responsible for the overall change in not only Dukes appearance but overall attitude.
They did more damage to Duke Nukem than people realise.

Don't forget the gangsta-wannabe cover art and the literally shitty advertisement.

Yeah that cover art was awful, it practically screams "lowest common denominator". The feces ad and the way you can throw it around and how duke reacts to being forced to throw it around is still funny, however I'm painfully aware that in a highly interactive game, it would be perfectly fine, but in a game like DNF with a few specialized pieces of interactivity here and there, it feels a lot more cheap and childish, and stands out much more as crude humor.

If you thought Fresch's hair and non prescription glasses were lolz, then check his new pic out.
I can say this might just possibly be the epitome of lame.

Aww and here's another one I found...

Photoshop is Fresch's biggest friend it seems...

No, I just can't help myself from laughing at lame arrogant posers. I love making fun of them with every occasion that I have.
I don't like lamers that are arrogant posers.
But I guess that should have been painfully obvious by now for those who know my style of posting and general attitude around here, especially when it comes to my opinions on Fresch and his "achievements"

Yeah we get it you don't like fresch - I don't particularly like him either - but this constant ad hominem shit is just getting really stupid now. Perhaps he might be a poser but you're being a giant cunt yourself.

At least people don't moan about the 15 new screenshots that go linked to on last page (forum default), because they are busy talking about other things. ;)

To me you sound like a person who has nothing else do to in life than criticize people. The internet must be heaven for you so we can't see what kind of a person you really are. At least he has the balls to show who he is instead of looking down at other people.
There is always something negative to comment on someone. I don't like posers who think they are awesome, but really, you don't know what he is thinking, he is probably a really nice guy with no greater expectations to himself than anyone else.

Of course Fresch deserves it to some point, since he screwed up with DNR and has some very strange obsession with his own image in a homoerotic tone. But I guess you are already being too repetitive about Fresch flaws.

I'm not saying I wasn't disappointed, still I enjoyed it and it could have turned out much, much worse. And as Achenar said no game could have lived up to that hype, especially not one as flawed and dated as DNF. BTW I'm not so sure the majority of Duke fans feel exactly like you, I know quite a lot of them liked the game, but as always the haters are the most vocal.
But this whole situation is very different from DNF, so we're really going a bit off topic here. What I meant was basically that Interceptor will be in a much better bargaining position after they've released a game, and GBX/T2 might be much more interested in what they can produce by then.

Interceptor was basically forced to suspend development of Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded because Gearbox wouldn't tell them if they could release it or not.

To put it as simple as possible Gearbox granted Interceptor a non-commercial licence to develop Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded, several months down the track they say 'oh, by the way we never said you could release the game just that you could develop it and it's upto us to say if you're allowed to release it or not but we won't tell you if you can or not' and with Gearbox having said that it didn't make much sense to continue developing a game that may never see the light of day. A few months later they were approached by Apogee Software, LLC. and asked to do a Rise of the Triad reboot and here we are.

It's unlikely that the development of Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded will ever continue now that Interceptor is working on commercial projects with Apogee Software, LLC. although once they finish Rise of the Triad and depending of the success of the game maybe they'll work on the other games in the Duke Nukem Trilogy if Apogee Software, LLC. still has the licence to those games which I'm assuming they do, citing this.

I might sound like that but in fact I consider myself to be a pretty reasonable guy and a few people here and there can always confirm that, everywhere I leave my mark, that is.
I polarize people with my comments, and usually to the negative side because I'm extremely pessimistic and extremely cynical.
I make lots of mean bad jokes that most of the time only I find funny.
If you look too deep into what I post, there's a risk that you might feel the need to commit a gory suicide due to various reasons, or maybe, just maybe you too could potentially laugh and find some humor hidden in there.

Since when is that an argument? It totally isn't.
There are many 13 year old boys and girls that show their faces on sites like facebook for everybody to see.
That doesn't involve balls, it involves a simple decision of whether you want to show your face to every fag in this world, or not.
Having your face plastered all over the internet could potentially cost you legal problems, suddenly the wish to have your face online will go down and if that's not your case, it is mine!
The only reason I see for Fresch to worry about putting his pics online, is because he is risking to getting every poser from the internet knocking at his door asking to be his new best friend. Either that or his pics might get shown at the awfully morbid happenings category from the bottom page of most weekend news papers world wide.

I know exactly what he's thinking.
He's thinking something along the lines of.
"Man I am such a sexy mother fucker and finally my true talents are needed at making the best triple A hit fps game of all time... Every man woman and child will become my bitch soon after I release this game and ohh my god do I look sexy in this black and white pic with shopped blue eyes!!! Better put it online fast so I don't lose any potential 13 year old girls that might want to screw me at the game's release world wide carnival parade, that's going to be televised 24/7 on every news channel that ever existed"

As for calling me Dickula, I think that does me a lot of justice since that is one of my strong points.

Oh, I am not speaking only of the license, but of the game as a whole.

Yeah, their/his "unforgivable fuckup" mostly consisted of being modders unexperienced at dealing with business, so they got fucked over. As for Fresch's previous "failures", who here doesn not have an aborted mod in their past? They probably learned from their mistakes and won't let it happen the same way again.

I don't find it completely unlikely that DN3D:R might be resurrected as a budget commercial project, like RoTT. They have already done work on it which they would probably not want to see wasted, and the reasons they had to work on it to begin with probably still hold true. It would be a win-win situation, wouln't it?
