I'm kind of miffed at Brightburn because it's a blatant ripoff of the short film on YouTube "The Flying Man" which my childhood friend was heavily involved with. Sony bought the rights to make it a major motion picture and just sat on it so they could make Brightburn without any possible lawsuits of plagiarism. Screw Brightburn. Some of those shots at the end are virtually carbon-copied from The Flying Man with the shaky cam and the flying figure in the distance. My friend is really bummed about it.

I saw the same connection to the short film as you did. I assumed that was on purpose to be a teaser for the sequel which will be that short film expanded. The reason I saw the 2 films as partners is because the BB kid says he wants to do good but gives into the bad impulses. Kind of what Flying Man did. He captures the thugs but becomes judge, jury and executioner.

Spider-Man: Far from Home. It's good -- I enjoyed it despite not really being in the mood to see a movie and being tired of superhero movies. A solid 7/10.

Been watching The Expanse. So far quite enjoying it. I've heard it called the sci-fi heir apparent to Game of Thrones. So far it hasn't peaked at that level, but I also heard it's very faithful to the books (which come out in a timely fashion) and I am enjoying it.

Yeah, my thought exactly, same goes for my friend. Still, definitely an improvement over Homecoming, though Far From Home still has some crappy moments from the first movie, for example, the cast.

Hey Sledgehammer, do you know anything about an abridged anime called Ghost Stories? I just finished watching the whole series and it is the funniest show I've ever watched. I don't even watch anime. Apparently the show completely bombed in Japan, so the English dub team was given free reign over the show's script. They went all out nuts.

I might saw this, but probably switched it, never was a big fan of such stories or typical anime stuff (never read the book either), though I think there was a movie inspired by it.

This is pretty hilarious, very American influenced (by the time when Americans weren't pussies), hard to believe that this was localized in 2005.

I saw "The Dead Don't Die" starring Bill Murray. If you have nothing better to do, go see it otherwise give it a pass. I knew from reviews ahead of time it was going to be a quirky "Living Dead" style of movie. The deadpan, laid back humor and couple of times breaking down the 4th wall reminded me of what I remember from watching short bits of the series "The Office". I find that series and this movie barely scratches the outer edge of comedy. I find I usually disagree with critics when they dis a movie. This time I agree. On the bright side, the theatre's popcorn was popped and salted to perfection and Selena Gomez looked hot it her skin tight shirt and shorts.

Have seen It 2 (rebooted) in September 20th or so (which was not so bad aside from some stupid moments), though haven't seen the first one yet (which is why I decided not to write anything about it, but whatever, I guess).

Today have seen Joker which was pretty good, better than usual superhero movies or other modern movies I've seen in theater lately in general. Loved the fact that they localized even the text in docs and letters, especially considering there is a lot of text in there. That was cool as fuck.

I just came back from seeing the 2nd Maleficent movie. Darker and more action packed than the first one. I liked it a lot. My only complaint is the usual one. The presence of a "cutesy" little character made to please a 3 year old kid. This time it was a ripoff of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Just watched The Irishman. It's a good movie, and that's coming from someone who's not from USA, and only knew Jimmy Hoffa as that guy that disappeared and was never found.

So, i got a good movie and a (not boring) history lesson.

I just finished watching it too. Take it from someone who lives in Detroit. The ending scene is very accurate. Nobody knows who Hoffa was anymore except that he was the dude who disappeared.

Saw first episode of Picard the other day. The nostalgiabait was the best part. I really don't care about the new characters and I don't buy the plot that the Federation can suddenly be so prejudiced. Not Roddenberry's Star Trek. No optimistic future of humanity here.

And the show takes itself much to serious. Sorry, but we had been past this for 25 years now, nobody buys 10 minute long dialogues like "The Schmapf'Rrar-blokk are a tale that used to scare the Runk'bar'g-ol, because the Z'an-a-kulk made the Fart'al,Poop" without showing what happened.

Got to watching A Beautiful Mind as it was suggested by NAMI,
So I knew that even though it's dramatized and made for entertainment, it being suggested by a benevolent non profit charity,
kind of got me interested and suckered in.

It was a very good movie with a fairly accurate portrayal of how real these delusions seem.
It is definitely something I suggest, although, me and him both got very lucky by never dabbling into drugs, and never physically hurting another person.
There are people who are not so lucky, and the film is very accurate in the fact that schizophrenia is a degrading mental illness.

Although this seems like hyperbole, in my case every couple months a very slight negative noticeable change appears.
I wish that wasn't the case.

It makes me so scared of myself, just as how Russell Crowe portrayed John Nash.

I'll never be a Nobel prize winner as fate served his hand a bit too harsh and a bit too early for me to achieve such,
but maybe one day I'll overcome my personal fears and get back to what I love doing,
just as he did.
