Duke Nukem Forever Nude Patch "The way DNF was meant to be played :)"
#32 Posted 25 March 2012 - 10:45 AM
As for the nude patch, eh, doesn't effect gameplay so it shouldn't really matter at all IMO.

I doubt it was all an artistic choice. In 1996 having bare tits in a game would have been over the line. There aren't many games even today to show them.
My first post in this thread was the first 'negative' reaction, and that was a joke.
It was so close to being over the line. DNF just felt hokey like "Lets just add some tits to be badass and appeal to teenagers." It's so evident from the way the game was marketed that sexual content was some sort of priority to them. The stripper in Duke3D could pretty much be considered an easter egg during the games early years. It was a level of interactivity unheard of. Once again, it was funny, and felt more like something the developers did to get a few kicks, not to be 'cool'.

And captain awesome. You should post in big bold letters that you are just joking because it's hard to see.

I don't see how the thread is killed, some people like that kind of stuff and think its essential, others don't. If we all agreed there would be no point of a discussion and we are on a forum so theres not much else to do but discuss these matters. Duke Nukem games mean many things to differant people. While I agree I come across as hot headed about the subject, there is a reason, I know the developers look at this site to check on fans wants and not so I don't want them thinking we are all obsessed with polygon pussys and that some of us want a richer experience from a Duke game, to that end I will say my piece, because a balance is needed. Who knows what kind of Duke game we will get next if the devs think that the sex aspect is still overly important..same again but with more ass?. Maybe I'm too old and wary to appreciate what I consider to be stupid shit.

Here you go

http://www.mediafire...b2az5k2cfsfgz4g
You'll need Texmod for it and also whenever I use it now (since all these patches affected the programming for mods) it will take a long while to start DNF, but it still works.
Download it fast and play it quickly so you dont have to listen to another load of "This ruined DNF even more" rants

Uh, I loved the twins and fetching dildoes at the strip club. I don't understand how any straight male can be bothered by such beautiful sexual beings.
The fact is that they did try to implement plenty of "interesting things to carry the game" but rather than being innovative, they ended up aping other games. There's no reason to assume that this was in any way a result of the team focusing too much on adult content, pretty much the only area where the game dared to be Duke rather than an imitation of Half-Life 2 or Call of Duty. Recent interviews have given a pretty good idea of what went wrong and nothing indicates adult content was added at the expense of quality in other parts. And if this is so, then toning down adult content (ceteris paribus) would've made the game much, much worse.
And lol @ Awesome's ridiculous idea that the titty-tassels were an "edgy" design choice.

Not really... It's in plain sight and I'm sure everyone tried pressing space on them first. I would consider the booby showing statues in Raw Meat more of an easter egg than the strippers.

After looking at your Deviantart uploads it would appear that you do indeed take this kind of stuff very seriously. I can't for a minute pretend that I understand that kind of obsession with naked game characters and frankly its kind of creeps me out. But each to their own I guess.

b.t.w. The original Duke 3D has some disturbing depictions of women. Real life is disturbing, this only mirrors our darkest fears, methinks, about our daughters, wifes, girl friends etc. One can see this in movies and read it in books; to find it in video games is not really surprising.

It's pretty difficult to recall my initial reaction to the strippers since it was over fifteen years ago that I played Duke3D for the first time, but I believe that their interactivity being "in plain sight" may say something about a time in gaming where handholding wasn't as ubiquitous as it is now.
Back in the mid-nineties, we were used to trying out the "use" button for effect, with the only hint being a darkened section of wall or a different/misaligned texture - if there was any hint at all.
Nowadays, not only does every game out there pop up an interactivity icon on screen, it actually tells the player what button on the controller or keyboard to press and continues to do so until the credits roll.
Apparently, today's gamer is too dense to:
1. Figure out that doors, keypads, gun emplacements and computers are items that can be interacted with.
2. Recall what button is bound to the "use" function.
3. Understand that the process of pressing "E" or "X" to open a door is not a one time deal.
It speaks volumes about DNF that it humbly conformed to this insulting trend, when the original premise of the game was the exact opposite; let the player experiment and discover interactivity in content that's just windowdressing in competing titles.

Have you ever heard of hentai and sh*t like that?
There's things miles worse than a simple nude patch out there - and even here somewhere there's a nude patch for Duke 3D with pixelated babes and it's square tits and all ( LOL ). You shouldn't be surprised by this mod. overreaction at its finest. lol

Yea, it's natural that strippers show some boobs. But statues? That's why i agree on you that it's an easter, like the blimp. You weren't actually supposed to try pressing space on a statue and expect some boobs.

Not sure how I got into this one. I did not imply that the erotic or other ambient game content is at the level of movies and books, only that it would (should) be a natural inclusion while the game industry is growing.
I think, the target age is between 16 to 24, it's a bit complex to decipher the numbers, but if you do some bean counting, this is the range, based on the link here
https://www.esrb.org...-statistics.jsp
either way not just for kids anymore.
b.t.w. My biggest dilemma about this topic right now is that I still can't work this on DNF, so my verdict is actually still open.

On topic, I think this mod has good intentions, but there's already enough nude in the game, really. And I do enjoy a nice nude patch, but I find it hard to enjoy a girls vagina while fucking aliens are tentacle raping them and exploding their stomachs... Just me, though

Yes, many do. Many games that have little to no nudity to begin with get those kinds of patches.
Duke Nukem Forever is already crammed wall-to-wall with sex. Why, exactly, does it need more?
Then again I said "F*ck this game" last year. Wish I did not have to, either. I want to love this game, but everything about it just seems to piss me off.
It's also just, very saddening to me that ONE MOD we can get is an XXX patch. That's sad to me. I was so looking forward to seeing what Duke fans could do with Duke Forever... and really, this is it. This is all fans can do. We've been thrown out of our own party on this one, folks.
