I received a private message on the Gearbox forums containing these links:
http://img254.images...unnytexture.jpg
http://img440.images...9/freezegun.jpg
http://img824.images...6888/gtfofg.jpg
http://img830.images...earboxmailb.jpg
http://img710.images...ighttexture.jpg
http://img198.images...46/pistolsp.jpg
http://img259.images...signtexture.jpg
The message said it was from the next Duke game.
And then my good friend, Lunick, dug these links up:

Apparently, they're the real deal it seems. I don't know if these assets are still being used or not.

You forgot the mailbox link http://www.bluefox.ws/industry.html
Like I said on your post, only the Pistols and/or the Dunny would make it into a Duke game.

Looks pretty awful TBH, I hope that's not the style they're going with. Doesn't look "Duke" at all.
I know they're not textured and shit but the design sucks.

The weapons are fugly, and the other assets look like they're ripped out of a Tony Hawk game.

I know for a fact, that these images are not related to Duke Nukem.

Not even the pistols (with stars and stripes etched on them) and the freezer? But they claim to be for an unannounced project at Gearbox Software. I don't see why someone would make that up, especially back in 2007-2008. Can you confirm they are from a Gearbox project?

Gearbox have unannounced projects, that are not necessarily related to Duke Nukem.
But the amateurish quality of these assets, is a dead giveaway. It's fake

He says that they are Mental Ray (ray-traced) renders, not in-game renders. The tower looks OK. The weapons... not a fan of the design.

another + for pistols look stupid
if your going to have a curved part make it so its the clip extending out of the bottom of the barrel not the handle and make them machine pistols and you can dual wield them, a curved handle looks very bad.
*b&b style* that would be cool *stupid laffs*

The guns look like futuristic toys and don't fit the setting. Maybe the Tribes series but not Duke.

C'mon guys, Fresch is in the industry, he knows what he's talking about!

How an ammo clip would fit into a curved handle is most unrealistic. But I do like that futuristic look though.

As far as the pistol and it's ammo is concerned, you're assuming that the pistol here would be a projectile/bullet shooter and not some kind of an energy weapon. Like, say, from the original Duke game. Or a Duke game that dealt with retelling Duke's origin's ala Duke Begins.
I hihgly doubt it though. All of that stuff looks either very low-grade, or very tacky. It doesn't really scream DUKE for me.

THese look terrible, but there is a thing called 'Rapid Prototyping'. These assets could of been done very quickly for some prototype. Who knows.
Else i'd come to the conclusion that someone doesn't know the ropes in the hiring department.
