There's also Arabian graffiti on the wall where the Khnum passes by.

Ah well, it still gives a good idea of what to expect.
And I don't see any new extended gampeplay videos since.

Nice to see some desert gameplay, there's more of that here (from 5:48):
Despite my earlier criticism, SS3 looks to shape up well visually.
It still has contrast that is a bit too high for my taste, but the lighting is certainly less 'extreme' and more natural looking than the current blockbuster shooters set in the Middle East (and most other games).
The 'problem' for me is though, that the more realistic and less symmetrical look doesn't really fit the Serious Sam gameplay style.
While watching those videos, I can't help thinking of how fantastic it would be to have a Tomb Raider/Indiana Jones type of game or an action/adventure/RPG hybrid (-> Tatooine in KotOR) with that type of visuals.

There are actually several betas (the above being one of the older ones) and an alpha which was rejected by reviewers after Croteam sent it. Full version, apparently, won't come out until release date.
The realism allows for some nice action scenes though. Cutscene graphics are superb.

When you are curious to see real HD gameplay from a game that you've been expecting since a long time, go to youtube on release day and write the name of that game, filter the videos by upload date and HD and you will most likely find a few videos uploaded by some of the biggest fans.
This strategy never failed me before.
Here are 11 minutes of gameplay from the final version of the game that can be bought right now!
It does feel like the old ones but for some reason, I find the weapon models, the maps and the decals less detailed and worse looking than the HD remakes of the first 2 games that got released last year, even though this game uses the exact same engine as the hd remakes, from what I understood.

There's nothing wrong with a game being a DooM clone, in my opinion, and there never was. I don't even mind iron sights that much, because you're not forced to use them and they still look cool. Games can and should be judged by their own qualities. I played the hell out of Rise Of The Triad when it was around, even if it was dated for its time, because it was fun (I still play it today because I have a level editor for it). It might not have been as technologically good as DooM, but it was still entertaining for what it was.

That's why I said "The positives of being a "DOOM Clone", it's a good thing because it adheres to the basic FPS formula from DOOM's era, and not many games do that these days. Also being able to hip-fire as accurately as using the iron sights was also a great idea, that way you're not bound to them and it's entirely option if you ever use them.
Also, anyone ripped off a Scrapjack's head yet? I've been trying for ages and I can't seem to actually do what I'm supposed to do.

There you go, classic Serious Sam. You even get an achievement for beating the game this way,

Edit: Patch is out and the problem is fixed, along with a few other fixes the first patch didn't include.

The original games were a lot of fun, so I don't see how you could go wrong with HD versions of them.

What's missing from them?
Are you sure that what's missing from them, is not your hardware ability to run them maxed out without stuttering?
They feel complete to me and they also feature a graphics style that looks to me now, just like the old one looked back in the day!

They feel complete to me and I did play the old ones back in the day and liked them (not as much as I liked Duke3d).
There's some small changes here and there (like certain terrain alterations) which don't really make a difference in the long run
But then theres some rooms that are flatout different. Because of the physics in the new engine, certain ridiculous rooms of the first two games are altered. Like the room thats a giant rotating cylinder, instead now its just a few blocks that rotate, but there is always a "bottom" to the room now (instead of the gravity being insane)
Also, not including split-screen is THE reason I haven't bought the second encounter HD. It was upsetting to know it wasn't going to be included, because my roommate/some friends of mine don't have insane computers but love games. I've got dual monitors, it would've been great to split screen an old school game with new graphics.

I didn't know about that spinning room shit, that sounds kind of lame if they made it lamer in the HD version, I need to check it and compare it.
As for the split screen, I stopped playing games in split screen since ages. I used to play split screen games when I was younger and I would play on the old consoles with mates at my house or at their house.
I think I played split screen games from NES times until PSone's life cycle ended.
These days, playing split screen games doesn't happen anymore, since I don't get mates over like in my teen years.
If I get mates over, we order chinese and drink till we fall flat, no more time for games.
So split screen for me, is useless and I didn't even look for it's presence.

Its strange though because BFE has split screen, so why its not in the HD remakes is beyond me.

I can run it maxed out fine. For some reason some rooms just feel empty now because of all the new effects and such. It's really hard to explain :/
