how you get it working on two systems? my code is only good for Steam  I want it on my PS3 as well

I got two FAC codes to decide what console I want it on. not to sound biased, I mainly wanted to do it JUST for ps3, but I decided to get Amazon to get me a code to use for my 360. I went on there while the ps3 was downloading (horrible speed downloading) my 360 got it to 100% while the ps3 was still at 60%. I gloated to my friends on xbox live and got off after getting passed the monster trucks. The rocks looked horrid when loading on 360, and some textures looked extremely flat, almost like it was painted textures on a smooth floor. On the ps3, it wasn't like that, it was alot more smoother in appearance with loading textures, and didn't take as long. The ground looked better too.

The only problem I have with the game, is the fact Duke feels like a midget.

Also, the ps3 controls were more in tune, it was a helluvalot easier to control duke and every other aspect with the ps3 controller. With the xbox it had strong delays in looking around, almost like it was looking around with a weight tied around your neck.

It appears that I've personally beaten the DNF demo from work before George Broussard even managed to download it.
I am such a lifeless person

To be truthful, with this demo I'd have to say that I'd only give duke a rental. He barely talks, and all of the talking is recycled. It just keeps repeating. Like some guy in the drawing board room kept saying TRY OUT THE RED MARKER. TRY OUT THE RED MARKER. Then the guy next to me (the guy next to the billboard) kept saying WOW DUKE THATS AMAZING, WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THAT.

I'm sorry, but it's horrible game mechanic, and usually when a game does that, it screams STAY AWAY.

why? I mean it's freaking annoying hearing the guy next to me and the guy behind me repeat things OVER AND OVER like a broken record. And the fact that I can't throw crap at the soldiers without it going THROUGH them? wtf? same goes for some weapons being able to shoot through rock beyond the sniper rifle.

A demo reflects what has been done so far, it's been updated to match what is basically the finished game. It may be a demo, but the game needs some serious work, especially if just the demo has some serious issues performin on the xbox. We don't want another Bayonetta on our hands do we? It's a fun demo, sure, I loved playing it. But things just need touching up, Duke needs to be taller, instead of like a midget, and the game needs to be handled well on the consoles and not only the PC.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. Basically what I am saying is simple: everyone wants Duke. So what's better? a rushed project? or a finished one?

I played both ps3 and xbox 360.

Sad to see Duke not being finished completely though, oh well.

The game is mainly PC so of course it's gonna be worse on consoles...just like when console titles are ported to PC and suffer on PC as a result...also this is just a semi-polished demo...

I hope this demo isn't representative of the final game when it comes to violence: where are the blood splatters? The Jace Hall footage with the pigcop being blown to bits was much bloodier.

THE DEMO IS GREAT I CRIED!!!

Now for the guy that said that Duke repeats his one liners... well... you can't have him saying EVERYTHING from the full game, right? Have some common sense man.

you want blood splatters? walk into a fallen soldier in the white board room, really weird, very unfitting

for all its little quirks its duke so its a meh issue to me, motion blur effect is a bit much, and the mouse needs tweaking other than that I can enjoy what will be a great action movie on rails,

Oh I know about the screen blood (and noticed the weird EDF soldier spraying blood all over you). I meant blood from the enemies doesn't splatter on the floor or walls. In the Jace Hall video there was blood all over the ground.

I had that too, until I went into my ATI control panel and set AA/AF to application control. I also unchecked morphological filtering.

Btw, am I still "blind"? The demo is out and there are new sections in Gearbox's forums, just like I said there would be.

I played the game for exactly 60 minutes. Lot's of interesting elements. Going from DN3D to DNF is hard, due to the over powered auto-aim in the former. Guess I've gotta learn how to aim again. I enjoyed myself though.

So let me get this straight, this is the "jtag" demo without the visual anomalies, which is the PAX demo with the addition of a bit of farting about with a mine cart?
That's a bummer, I'd hoped they would have people play something that they haven't already seen a hundred times before and that actually offers a bit of excitement.
Ah well, it's not totally unexpected I guess.

I got the 360 version and it lagged a little at times for me. My friend got the PS3 version and he said it was running great.

Anyway, it was awesome! I beat it on all difficulty levels! :(

They could have recorded more voices...
In DUKE3D Duke had 5 or 6 different "jump" sounds,in this demo you only hear one.
The fact that after you exchange a weapon you have with another that is lying down, the weapon you left will disappear after some seconds is bad. I lost the RPG at the desert stage that way,and it was needed to blow that
spaceship and I had to loose a life and reload last check point..
Oh and why God there is no a "save" option ?
Why not to be able to save anywhere we want and have to rely on check points ?
It reminded me of Crash Bandicoot 2 on ps1.

Yeah and it would also be nice to have "restart level" and "choose level" options. Maybe the full version will have them...

George, I didn't forgot about that when you said you wanted crashed servers ... i kept that under my mind so long and couldn't have got rid of it ... i totally "forgot" about it like it wasn't happening at pax ... but luck struck me today , just at evening servers started to act strangely , well my mind was thinking "are you thinking what i am thinking :D" ... the rest happend smooth like butter.

On the first page of this thread there's a link to the twitter post in question .... reference to the 2007 teaser shacknews crash , i intended to preserve the history in this thread that's why i had an urge about servers down .... but i didn't expect this to gross into a 10 pager in ... hours.

Feeling so happy now i contributed a lot. And ... on 3DR forums i was one of the rarest super positive guys who always bet on duke ... like, it was just emotionally evident that there's going to be no way they're letting DNF go ... if you have it for 12 years ... you do for 2 more.

I just to see some old news from shacknews , an article when 3DR is "closing" i noticed my own post ... and i forogt about it , but it was ME all right , ... i said "don't worry guys , it's going to be back" (or something like that) ... and i had no slightest clue at all , i just kept the vision , i seriously bet on duke and i didn't saw a whole lot of such attitude ... except shack and duke4.net ofcourse (and 3drforums at the time)

Let this thread be my ultimate contribution, to repay all those "silly" bets people were making fun of, i (we;)) just won all the bets :(

EDIT: i wrote this ... at 3 AM , felt asleep without pressing submit ... B) .. to wakeup and see 44 pages , omg. :(

EDIT2: .... now to actually read everythign what was going on ... i have 35 pages to go

hours before it "started happening" ... forums behaved abnormally, those signs point to traffic , but if they PURPOSELY messed around i don't know ...

Spoiler

Well, i felt that the demo was a bit disappointing, not because it was bad, but because it was so short.

I played both the Xbox and PC versions and i got to say that the PC version runs better and looks better, but it still feels like an unfinished game. There are no real blood decals when you squish people, and the xbox versions is a tad annoying to play because there is so much motion blur and no way to turn it off! Also the fact that weapons will disappear after you drop them is really annoying, but other then that it was fun. I just really hope that the demo's problems aren't in the full game.
