Shoot at where they are going, not where they are at. You got to compensate for the lag.

Every weapon for every enemy as I always say. Pistol against troopers, shotgun against pigs, chaingun against liztroops. Octobrains?, they have much health, the shotgun or a good explosive will help. That creepy little green things?, quick them or use the pipebombs. More harder enemies will require the RPG or the devastator. The freezethrower I rarely use it, but it is useful.

Another thing, the auto-aim doesn't help much, turn it off maybe is a good idea.

I hope this helps.

Lol what are you talking about? Auto aim helps a shit ton, only an idiot would turn it off. Do you realize he's talking about Duke-match?

Also, a few weapons you should never use are freeze and devastator as they are practically useless in Duke-match.

Devastator is very useful for setting up a kill zone if someone goes into an area that they cant get out of without doubling back. Ask Vinny. Posted Image

Ha ha ha ha! Yea, I remember licking my wounds and re spawning more times than the average heart beats per min! But I say use whatever you've got available and learn to use them effectively. You don't always have your weapon of choice, and I've scored hundreds of kills with only a pistol and a my joystick. There's an EDuke log file around here, or.......
....Ask Steven. :)

Because your post was only directed at single player, and not dukematch as the OP asked about, and because you were arrogant enough to ask for a negative vote, I went ahead and downvoted that first post you made Posted Image

Then I went ahead and voted up the post I just quoted Posted Image

The last time I played dukematch online was about a year ago. I'd only played it once before then, but that last time I lost 22 to -1 or something, no joke. I think it might have been because I was using the xduke port, and I've only ever used eduke32. The mouse control felt strange, and all the colours were completely messed up, making it harder to see anything. The guy at the other end said he didn't have any problem with funky colours, so he probably had much better vision than I did, that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.

Heh, I'm in the same boat. Tried a bit of Blood mp a year back with another Swede. Lost to something like 20 - 3, got absolutely pwn-destroyed. I blame it on the shitty cramped office map I selected. :)
The Napalm Launcher and the most other fire-related weapons in that game is excruciatingly annoying since you burn for like forever and there's not a shit you can do apart from constantly healing yourself. Humbug.

Or those of us who have dignity, and would rather not have assists, rather than a competitive advantage! :)

Would be cool if certain settings were forced on servers, so you could up the skill level a bit.

Tips for multiplayer?

Get to know your maps, most of the maps have hidden openings behind walls, that you can just walk straight through.

Open them in single player afterwards if you have to.

Get to know those rooms, as they can contain lots of ammo, and you can shoot out through them without being seen (unless you're shooting anything other than bullets)

Watch out for laser trip bombs planted in these kind of places, its so easy to round a corner at high speed and walk straight into them.

Definitely shoot ahead of the player, lag aside, the speed of duke is so fast, that you need to shoot ahead.

I'm all for the competitive advantage, i do all the glitches as well as use auto aim. People with dignity die first in my book. :D

It's so true! I like to give myself more of a challenge, and I like to have full control over a game, I turn all assists off in Racing Simulators too, rather than have a computer do the driving for me.

You know what really pisses me off in multiplayer fps games though?

People jumping around like kangaroos. Its just too unrealistic, it's last thing someone is going to do in a real shootout.

I think fps games should make the gun shake like crazy when you jump into the air to prevent this from happening.

Fire armor, and armor in general, is absolutely essential.

They are games, they are suppose to be fun, not realistic. Personally, i like playing Duke Match the way it was originally meant to be played; with auto aim, glitches, and the classic graphics. About the only thing i would like to change is to play it on Eduke32 in 32 bit mode.
