New Version Of Duke Nukem 3D DosBox Launcher V1.5.

Changelog for Duke Nukem 3D Dosbox Launcher.


V1.5 9-9-2012

Do a fresh install with this version!

Added some new video option settings in Video\Sound.

Changed default Video settings on startup. Much better frame rate.

Added new selection on main\singleplayer menu. You can now tell
which games are installed and what needs to be installed.


Added Shareware game, so anyone can try out. So now you can play
the Duke3d Shareware v1.3 right off. The Folder .\DUKE3DS Can be
deleted if you do not want the Shareware version.


Now when your Install any version of Duke Nukem 3D Atomic. It will
either install to a folder DUKE3D15 and get copied to main Folder or,
just get Copied to the folder called DUKE3D15 if you have GOG
or, 3D Reamls download version. All will have seperate folders so
when you save games in singleplayer each will have 10 saves.

Folder list:
.\Main Folder Should only have: Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition files.
.\DUKE3D15\DUKE3D = Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition
.\DUKE3D14\DUKE3D = Duke Nukem 3D Atomic V1.4
.\DUKE3D13\DUKE3D = Duke Nukem 3D V1.3
.\EDITART = Editart stuff
.\CUSTOM = This where you add folders and files for Dosbox Starter.
.\MAPS = SinglePlayer Maps
.\DMMAPS = Multiplayer Maps
.\Games = TC addon files that have only a Grp and Game con file with
the same name.
.\RTS = Remote Ridicule Sound files

Multiplayer, Levels, Maps and Addons use DUKE3D.EXE from main directory.

Added new buttons to make it look good.

Minor bug fixes and improvements.

Do not delete the DDLVERS.INI. It keeps track of what versions of
Duke you install from cd-rom. And what was install first or if you
have GOG version. If this file is lost or deleted you will need to
do a fresh install. Also do a fresh install for this new version, or
the selection menu will display the wrong selection items.

Got a new problem w/ the new launcher Skulldog. While I click the setup tab of Duke 3D Atomic to change it to my controls (F=forward, V=Backward, S=Strafe Left, D=Strafe Right, A=Jump, Z=Crouch) then when I'm done adjusting the controls, I launch Duke 3d Atomic, My control setup works fine. However when I exit out and launch the Duke Nukem 3D Atomic edition by clicking on it in the tab and click the box art. After it launches it from that, I get the WSAD controls. I don't want that. It happens after I install it from the Atomic CD I have. I don't have this problem w/ the Blood Launcher.

Update: Tried it w/ the GOG version. Same thing.

Whenever I update the user.con files in the .grp files. There are two addons don't play the demos properly when their grps are modified.. IMO it doesn't bother me that much. Those two are: DukeDC & Duke Carribean. DukeDC has got that alien green wall thing (no demos playing in the background). As for Duke Caribbean it plays the level Freeway demo. Once again those bugs don't bother me.

Another thing is I want to use my own midi and .voc files to replace the music and some sounds in Duke 3D Atomic, DC, and (.voc only) Nuclear Winter. If I put the files in the directory where Duke Atomic is. It won't carry over to Duke DC and Nuclear Winter. I have to copy them in those addon directories right?

I'll look into those problems. What kind of changes do you make to the grp and con files? I am going to add a custom tc addon command menu later on. it will be kinda like the one in blood launcher, but much diffirent for duke3d. And yes you would have to copy them into addon directories.

The User.con are the ones I've changed. Switched the ammo counts. Pistol=192 rounds, Shotgun=56. (8 ammo of each shotgun & ammo box). Chaingun=350 rounds (Can't stand the 200 round limit IMHO). Devastator=100 rounds (20 rockets on pickup either from weapon or box of missles). Freezethrower=100 rounds (25 ammo or weapon pick-up).

Here's the list of my weapon damage output

Foot=12
Pistol=7
Shotgun=11
Chaingun=10
FreezeThrower=25
Devastator=40
Expander=20
All of the rest remains unchanged.

Laser Tripwire's laser beam aka TRIPWIRELASERMODE = 1 to make the laser translucent.

Swear frequency=200 to match Redneck Rampage's

CameraDestructible=YES

Frozen Thaw Time = 300

I did alter the "Keycard Required" messages and replaced them w/ "*Insert color* Access Denied".

That's all I did to the User.cons b/c I want to balance out Duke 3D's gameplay.

I am going to change the way it installs Dukedc and Vacation get installed. to make it more like the original install, plus 2fold to work with duke3dw port. This should fix those problems too!

Fixed control changes not updating in Duke3d15 Folder.

Change the way Nuclear Winter, Duke it out in Dc, Caribbean
Vacation are installed and now run in own folders for con changes.

Added Duke3d V1.3, Duke3d V1.4, Duke!Zone 2, NAM, and WW2GI to
Multiplayer, and Level play menu.

Minor bug fixes and improvements.

Good Job on that update Skulldog. However, IIRC while I was installing Duke!Zone 1. It say's "Duke!Zone 1 NOT FOUND. IT WONT INSTALL" or something like that. I clicked ok and it installs and launches the add-on w/ no problems what-so-ever. Or it could be my eyes playing tricks on me.

Anyways. Looking forward to the updated Shadow Warrior and Redneck Rampage Dosbox launchers!

I linked here from The Official Add-on Installation Guide under the Duke!ZONE (1) and Duke Xtreme subheadings. Good work!

You should apply for Duke4.net webspace to host a page for all of your DOSBox launchers in a central location.

Edit 2. Yes Duke!Zone works. All the other Duke games work. Haven't got NAM and WWII and Duke Assault yet. And umm, Duke Extreme doesn't have that User.con like the other games. It's in the .GRP file

How come Duke DC & Carribean uses the DEFS.CON, GAME.CON and USER.CON instead of DCDEFS, DCGAMES, DCUSER, CON Files & CBDEFS, CBGAMES, CBUSER, CON files? Should it be using those instead? It's for getting those addons to work properly right or what?

I have both to make them work with Eduke32 and, Duke3dW ports. You can copy NWINTER, VACATION, DUKEDC, DUKEDCWW, DEXTREME, and DUKE!ZON folders to your eduke32
directory and play them with Eduke32 or Duke3dw. I want to make it so that Eduke32 port can work in same directory as the launcher. It can work now, but you get the cfg timeout selection before the game starts.


I found a way to fix it for Eduke32 and Duke3dw,. And I found that I have to fix Map Menu for Duke Extreme. I will add Duke Extreme, DukeZone, and Duke Assault in the Game selection menu instead of just selecting the map folder.

Can't seem to find a way to edit it. It's not like .cfg, or .ini files. If I can fine a way I will add con editing.
