Oblivion is a fantastic game. The main quests, side quests, and all the little stories that fill in the gaps are all amazing to me. I loved the game. Can't wait for Skyrim.

I found the story to be...lacking depth. Maybe it has been a bit long since I last played it but I remember the ending being kind of "meh" and the over all thing being rather predictable. I remember the process of leveling to be extremely tedious and that may have hurt the overall feel of the game. I've never really been impressed with Bethesda Software when it comes to story and dialog. There just seems to be no depth or something. It is no where near on par with BioWare's work or even the stuff from the late 90's such as Fallout. However, I like the inventory and crafting stuff that I remember from it. It was at least creative in that area. I'm also glad that they give out the mod software which is maybe what could help the game be more fun.

I have read that Skyrim is using a different engine etc which gives it some promise. I will probably find myself at least checking it out at some point.

Haven't been paying too much attention to the stock markets, but while browsing a site, I saw the Canadian dollar is above the American one. That usually never happens.

The Australian dollar was above the American dollar for a short while before slipping back down again :(

It's like America is the spoilt big brother.

How is Australia doing with the economy crisis? I know some countries are doing better than others with their economies.

Have people been able to find jobs and such over there?

That happened a few years ago. Back at the beginning of this economic recession or whatever it is. It was a big deal. Pundits had a field day.

Yeah, we've been almost unaffected. I myself haven't noticed any changes out of the norm, although the government has gone into a huge deficit handing out stimulus packages (basically giving people free money so they'll spend more and keep the economy going), but I have no doubt that we'll work back to a surplus soon enough.

Edit: And as far as I'm aware unemployment is still well within reasonable bounds, about 5%, not that I know how they actually calculate that figure.

When our last premier was in power here in Alberta, he gave everyone in the province what he called "Ralph bucks". Basically everyone got $400.

American banks still wouldn't give you any more than 99 cents for a dollar, though. And they still won't.

Yeah...it doesn't make sense. Especially when you consider that I have a handful of threads that I created.

However, somewhere buried deep under the crap in this forum there is a Happy Birthday Thread. I think there is anyway. :D

I am not dead. Though I haven't been in here nor played hardly any games for ages, due to too much RL crap getting in the way. Since I was last here I have passed the UK driving test, got a car (cheap and old but it works), joined an amateur astronomical society and other stuff I don't really want to talk about yet :(

Biggest thing is, though, I come back to find DNF lives :D That's bigger news than Jesus walking up the steps of the Vatican :D Not sure I believe it any more than I believe astrology and UFOs, but what the heck :D

I quite like how you guys in Aus work. You keep out of other people's business and you seem to have a fairly sensible government. Shame I can't say the same for the UK :(

"ages" around here is closer to months than years. Of course, some people actually do disappear for years.

With 3 computers now in my place, I need to think about getting a KVM switch (HDMI to DVI if I can find one). Either that or take the hard drive out of my Core 2 Duo system (from 2006), and give the computer to my mom. She really needs to upgrade her Pentium 4 2.8 GHz. The thing still runs like a dinosaur even with the maintenance I did on it.

I just got an infraction for insulting somebody on the GBX forums. For a post I deleted 60 seconds after I submitted it because I thought it was a tad too harsh. I didn't even think anybody had enough time to read it. I don't think anyone did but that MOD.

There's a forum I post on and their standard template for giving out "points" is "flame baiting". One mod even gave me a warning but said in the message "I don't even think it warrants an infraction". So I sat there thinking well WTF are you doing it for. Some people shouldn't be allowed the control...

Thing is though, some people are so stupid they deserve all they get, in the real world they won't have people with coloured names above their head to jump in and play "police"...

They have real police with colored suits and metal guns....or real thugs with metal guns.

"wintry mix" and "heavy snow" - music to my ears....afternoon classes canceled.
