Producer/director choose whether or not to change script and both are responsable for choosing the right lead(at least) actors and enabling their acting skills.

Depends on who the writers are and definitely who the director is.
I vote Seth McFarlane (Family Guy) to write the script and Micheal Bay (Transformers) to direct it.
#1539 Posted 24 August 2010 - 09:22 AM
Uwe Boll.

That is an absolutely laughable choice. Seth McFarlane? His "humor" died out years ago.
Go the Expendables route. Get Sylvester Stallone to both script, direct, and produce.
Or, yeah, Uwe Boll. Can't be any worse than House Of The Dead, right?

You are half right, as Speilberg DID make a bad movie BEFORE Indiana 4 and that is War or the Worlds.
BTW Mr.Flibble you are wrong as Avatar was amazing. Not just because of FX but the action was great as was the acting etc. etc.

That could work. Stallone is actually a pretty good action movie writer.

Postal wasn't bad...of course, that is only because Postal has no real story to truly mess up. Bloodrayne on the other hand....well, the few minutes or so of boobies was about the only good part of that movie.
Of course, I mention Uwe because he has that habit of buying up rights to make video game movies.

Postal was entertaining. That is all it had to do.

No. Avatar was great fun. If you praise Uwe Boll fuck off. The world doesn't need him.

Yes, it does. Uwe Boll is filling a vacuum. If he leaves, someone else will inevitably take his place and just as likely make even shittier movies.

No. NOTHING not even SWHS is wrose. Hell unlike Uwe Boll movies Hoilday Special had ONE (and only one) good thing about: It introduced Boba Fett.

Holiday Special is definitly worse than anything UWE BOLL has made.
I can get some laughs out of an UWE BOLL session. I cant do that with Holiday Special.
...and F*CK Boba Fett. He's such a great Bounty Hunter that DARTH VADER HAS TO REMIND HIM NOT TO KILL THE BOUNTY! Thats like having to remind the mail man not to light the mail on fire.
#1557 Posted 29 August 2010 - 03:08 PM
However, that does not change the fact that the introduction of Boba Fett (in the cartoon, not the actual live action special itself) is not a truly redeeming quality to the Holiday Special. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, can redeem the Star Wars Holiday Special. I watched that all the way through and I'm still not sure what I watched. I use that as a standard of bad high budget movies. Low budget movies have no standard.

Not a fair example. It had help that most low budget films do not get. Thanks to Peter Jackson's involvement.

I never saw District 9 so I can't comment on it. However, the fact that it even made headlines means it was good enough to get attention. Much like Napoleon Dynamite which was about as low budget as it gets but it made bank on being what it was.
