Coca Cola is not to be ingested at all (shitty drink) - and neither is Pepsi, by the way.

I've been using 7za command line to zip up wip files and create ''fake grp'' files in one click, ready to run. Pic very much related.

Are you shitting me? I bought a Samsung EVO last month. God damn it.

The first Crucial M4 I had went out after exactly 30 days. Micro Center exchanged it no questions asked on day 31.

It was only the second time they'd heard of one failing.

You'll be fine. Samsung SSD's are excellent. My laptop has one from the factory, and Dell Latitudes only use the finest heavy duty parts.

What I originally thought was a hardware issue turned out to be software. I thought that if the drive was sitting there for 10 minutes at the Windows bootloader that the drive was corrupted or something. In addition to having a bunch of chkdsk errors. Ran the usual tests and didn't find anything. Restoring from a previous backup didn't work (must have been corrupted). Reinstalling Windows did the trick though.

I decided to try out Windows 10 again. Haven't used it since August or so.

Ah, ok. Crisis averted then.

By the way, I was having frequent crashes with my SSD until a few days ago. Windows was trying to defragment it.

Never, ever, EVER try and defragment an SSD. Always turn defragmentation off when an SSD is freshly installed. It'll screw up and wear out SSDs when defragmented. Always use defragmentation on HDDs only.

That was the current SSD. I have two of them.

I sent one SSD in for them to look at and they gave me a new one because they confirmed that I couldn't boot into Windows for 20 minutes.

I turned off all of the telemetry features. Besides, if I want to run DirectX 12 games like Mass Effect Andromeda or Dovetail's upcoming new flight simulator, I have to get it.

It's true, but hopefully Valve is not the only developer with a caution about Windows 'exclusive' marketing ehmm mania.

But let's see when Vulcan is released what it is and what is not.

Well Dovetail licensed the code from Microsoft to make the new sim. So seeing as the core was made by Microsoft, it's pretty much guaranteed to be DirectX based.

Take the best parts of MS Flight (autogen alpha-fade, cloud shadows, other enhancements) and FSX (better simulation (less arcadey like Flight), renders the whole Earth & high-earth-orbit, unlike Flight which is confined to Hawaii, better add-on support, etc), and mash them together with a modern engine.

No idea about Bioware running DirectX 12 for Andromeda. Years ago, people were saying we should use OpenGL for gaming instead of DirectX. Not sure why they chose DirectX.

That would be hard to imagine for myself... my game room is more than 3 times the size of that place.

Probably get a lot of back injuries.

I've read stories that people these days don't want big places, but rather smaller places. I don't know how you could stuff an entire family into a place that's 400 square feet. I have one bedroom, and there isn't enough room for four people, unless you plan to sleep on the floor or something. Which is solid concrete.

Once I get my new laminate flooring in, it would make it extremely uncomfortable to sleep on. Least with carpet you have some padding. It looks really nice.

Which is why I prefer bigger places over smaller ones. Mine being around 700 square feet is just the right size for one person.
