Consent is something that almost nobody can agree on how to define once you get outside the "typical ideal". When you are dealing with minors it becomes an even bigger bee hive.

Compulsory schooling is a gigantic structure where students are constantly reminded that there are things they MUST do whether they want to do them or not, whether they agree with them or not, whether they are *against* them or not. Hold your hand in the wrong shape? Get punished. Give a politically incorrect answer? Get punished. You want to use an environment where children are consistently reminded that whether they agree with the lesson or not they must comply to then turn 180 and teach them that what matters most is consent.

So now let's get into the real life human situation. 17 year old boy says he does not consent to the history lesson because it's propaganda, but does consent to giving the teacher oral sex. Consent is what matters, right. Oh but no... not in this case. Because an authority has told you what you may and may not consent to. 14 year old Jane doesn't consent to talking about sexuality with anyone from her school, but does consent to giving teacher a back rub. Wait... so now Jane is forced to discuss sexual subjects she finds uncomfortable, but can't perform a harmless non-sexual gesture? So which is it... is consent the most important factor... or authority?

If the consent lessons actually *work*... the school has a genuine problem when students try to exercise their consent (even outside of sexual matters). If they don't work, you've only reminded students that for all the talk... the school is a hypocrite who WILL violate their consent because they have the authority to... thus reinforcing in the student that it's all bullshit and an authority can and will violate you and get away with it.

Real people aren't clean and tidy. Both the ones who misinterpret... and the ones who see an opportunity to exploit.

This doesn't even get into the mine field of what sort of people will be attracted to the role and whether the students and parents have *real* opportunity to not consent without consequences or not... etc etc.

It's like using prison to teach people to not restrain people in order to regain order.
