The use of torture is highly immoral but has been used for millennia and doubtful it'll go away any time soon.

It's also shown in studies and even in the CIAs own reporting to not really work. The things that do work tend to be the kinds of things police do in an investigation which is building some sort of rapport and steering the person into revealing information.
