Origin: an ASCII art image posted as a reaction to threads where the original poster would be fishing for attention, as a way to highlight the thread was an obvious troll. Later came to signal moderators and other users that illegal pornographic content had been posted. Due to the widespread nature of its application, Pedobear has been often misinterpreted as a symbol of pedophilia and lolita complex

pedobear signifies "you are a pervert"
the two you referenced signify "i am a pervert, gimme more pervert stuff to fap to"

It is bad theology to view hell as punishment put on someone. It is better to view it as punishment one puts on oneself. Humans always have free will. We choose to reject God or embrace God. Those who choose, with full knowledge, to reject heaven and God enter Hell on their own free will.
It is an extremely pre-enlightenment and ignorant view to think of hell as fire and brimstone and some temporal punishment from God. I'm not even sure Aquinas taught that (or Augustine, to go even further back).
Jerry Fallwell was once asked what he would do if, when he died, he discovered that God doesn't hate people like he does. Jerry Fallwell answered that he wouldn't believe that it was God speaking to him. That is a person actively and freely choosing Hell over Heaven. The same applies to Fred Phelps (and Hitler, to be fair). Adolf Hitler may have chosen forgiveness and God over his own perverted view of the world after seeing God face-to-face.

you are made aware that there is a concept of God. It is on you to decide if you want to learn more and accept it.

other religions don't have the same concept of a hell as the main western religions. Some have concepts of a place of torment (e.g. Naraka), but they're usually not eternal.
if you're asking me which religion and God are the right one, I can't answer that. I've made my choice, i believe i'm right or at least going the right direction, but i can't say all the others are wrong.
my perception is to believe in God and try the best i can to follow his commandments. the only people that could go to "hell" are those whom have completely forsaken God altogether.
my line of thought is that most modern monotheistic religions are actually paying tribute to the same God, they just had different earthly teachers that were influenced by their environment at the time, thus there are variations in the scriptures and observations.

My post was about the irrationality of an infinite punishment for finite crimes. Whether the punishment is brought about by oneself or by some other agency is beside the point. Even if I enter hell of my own free will, it is still absurd to suppose that suffering in hell for eternity could be an appropriate or just consequence for anything that I manged to do in my finite life to other earthly beings. Now, if hell is not eternal but is somehow atemporal, then it becomes more difficult to evaluate. I am familiar with the notion of abstract entities that exist outside of spacetime, but people as I understand them are temporal entities. So, if people (or their "souls") can enter hell that would seem to require that hell is temporal. If not, then please try to enlighten

@Fox: I did not claim, nor do I endorse the view that Hitler is solely responsible for the crimes of his regime. I was simply pointing out that, whatever guilt he has, it is not infinite.
#12981 Posted 21 March 2014 - 07:00 PM
some don't believe in hell at all, the soul is destroyed if the person is not worthy to be in heaven.
some believe that hell is temporary - souls are tormented to "fit the crime" then ascended into heaven as long as they repent. when hell is empty it's destroyed.

your definition of full knowledge is extreme. the only entity that has that kind of full knowledge would be God.
my full knowledge is comprised of having certain experiences, determining that those experiences are attributed to God, researching the monotheistic religions, choosing the one that felt right for me.
to me "full knowledge" is basically a person made aware that there is a god, either by spiritual enlightenment or by word of mouth. what they chose to do with that information is entirely on them (free will).
continue seeking for more information or just throw it out as bunk.
