Regarding the X-Files remastering process, seems they are up to season 2 in HD. Starting on season 3 soon. I have no idea when they'll be releasing it on Blu-ray, but according to this new tech they found, it essentially does 95% of the work for them. The other 5% is done by hand (probably making sure the finished product looks good), so it's really fast. They managed to do one episode in as little as 3 days. With that tech, it finds the film footage, and splices the video frames (CGI effect shots will be upscaled, while physical effects like explosions are already on film), and puts it in a finished episode ready to go.

The Blu-ray looks a bit cropped (top and bottom). This was aired on a German TV station. Some guy who watched the episodes in the US stated that it is indeed 16:9, and wasn't cropped. I don't know. Mind as well wait for the official Blu-ray release.
